KSG Question

Hey all I am new here but not to the detailing world. I have tried many many products over the years but KSG was one I never tried.

I used it over AIO on sunday, applied it very thin and let it dry for about 3 hrs and went to remove it. WOW WHAT A CHOIR!!!!!!! It was like concrete on the finish and removing it was almost unbareable.

I was wandering if I did something wrong or if this is just the nature of KSG. I love the look and want to do another layer or 10 but am very skeptical after the first layer.

Was wandering if anyone has any hints or tips for applying or removing this stuff?

My process was:
Menzerna IP - Yellow cutting pad
Menzerna FP - White Combo pad.
AIO - Damp finishing pad
KSG - Dry Microfiber pad by hand Removal a bare!!!!!!

Thanks for any help or tips,
Tommy

Welcome to the site

The Klasse SG should sit on the car for about an hour to cure and to remove it spray the panel down with some QD spray to wipe clean...I'm guessing the reason you are having a hard time removing the SG is that its not completely dry on the surface

TY for the welcome Beemerboy.

As for a QD to aid in the removing or anything else to do with KSG is Megs #34 a usable QD?

Also I had it parked in the shade for applying and drying. It wasnt very humid out at all. It seemed to be dry it wasnt smearing it was like it was glued fast to the paint.

Your welcome

is the Megs 34 a QD spray? if that is the case it should be OK for removal of the SG...Humidity can play a factor in cure time and removal as well as heat

I have heard a lot of people complain about Klasse SG being a pain to remove. There are a few things that you can do next time to make it a lot easier.

1- Thin, thin, thin. If you see it, there's too much.
2- Wipe on/wipe off. A lot of us do a WOWO method and no removal issues. Apply to a panel and then wipe it off- no set time.
3- Wait overnight to remove. By this time the sealant will be easier to remove as well.

I have done multiple coats of SG using #2, have had easy removal, great looks and great durability. I also did #3 once just to try it out- probably not practical for you as it seems like you were outside.

Then again, if you do come across this problem again, a QD like beemerboy said will also work. Good luck.

As had been said before, THIN, THIN, THIN!

The application should be virtually non-visable with only a very THIN amount - IF (and a very big IF) you apply thin enough, it's a fairly easy removal. But IF you apply it above THIN, then it's a chore for sure.

Good luck! The "pain" is well worth it - great protection and a bright, crisp finish.

A lot of people recommend thin thin thin, but sometimes even thin is too thick. Especially on black. I have used this method tons of times without ANY issues.

Apply to whole vehicle as thin or thick as you want. Then follow with a very damp (but not wet) MF. Just wipe it off, and then a final buff with a dry MF. I have seen no loss in durability (Mom's car still has it going after 4 months)....

Some say to keep water away, but the thing is that this an acrylic sealant, not a polymer. If you have ever seen real acrylic dry, it only takes about one hour max. Imagine the small amount of acrylic in Klasse SG.

I'm not telling anyone to change their ways, but if you find you have problem and wanna experiment, give it a go.

I promise you will lose little IF ANY durabilty...If anything you lose durabilty trying to put it on too thin as you may miss spots, especially on lighter vehicle. Thin enough to see from a foot away is as thick as I really recommend as to not waste product..

I don't know anything about the megs QD, but I know that Poorboys S&G is fine and so is any silicone detailer..

I just use water damped towel.
