Klasse kicked my a**e (almost)

After reading EVERY Klasse post on the board, I decided it was time to use the twins on my wife's 2000 metallic black Passat wagon. The paint was in pretty good shape for having made it through 3 CT winters, 90,000 miles, one claying, two waxings and hardly ever washed.

I started with FPII, but it wasn't really doing anything to the light swirls/webs. I switched to the 3M FI II Machine Polish 39003, and got more out... not perfect, but much better and ok till the spring.

Time for the Klasse. AIO, on and off with no problem. Nice shine, nice feel. Now the SG. I read the label, wetted the mf applicator that came with the Classic kit, lightly misted the pad with Meg's qd, blotted it on my t-shirt and dove in. The SG is like water and it sort of beads on the new AIO finish. It was harder to keep the layer thin until the pad got soaked with it a little more. So the hood went on thicker than the rest of the car.

Now to take it off. The label says the longer you wait, the better. It started to "haze" and after about 30 minutes, and I started to test the hood to take it off. Horror show. As I rubbed, you could actually see the fine, equidistant lines put down by the mf pad. I started to panic, cause I needed to get the thing done by dark. So I waited.

As I waited, the SG actually began to become "clearer". You could see the stuff do it's thing chemically. Sure enough, 30 more minutes later, it came off with no problem. Any tough spots on the hood, I misted the mf towel with qd and presto!

I must say, intuitively, the WOWO method seems like it would leave less product on the paint, but I can see how removing it could be somewhat intimidating using the apply let dry method. I'm looking forward to one more layer then #16 on top.

Thanks for all your help, it was fun and I couldn't have and certainly wouldn't have done it without you.

Jason, good to hear that you had a good experience with the Klasse Twins. You really can't beat the durability of Klasse. Post pics if you have them.

No matter how long I've let it sit it's been a b@#ch to buff off. Glad the apply and wait method worked for you though.
