JW and Klasse questions

Big fan of the Klasse twins here (got 9 to 10 months of protection this past year out of multi-layers of KSG + layers of 'nuba) and not necessarily looking to change.

However, time has been a problem for me this year and never got to do my spring cleaning nor anything else beyond the occasional wash (which is how I got to see the 9 month duration).

Over Labor Day weekend I was able to clean with KAIO and get a layer of KSG on. Want to add more layers of KSG but time concerns have me looking to JW Triggers both AJ and the 'nuba versions. I read of some issues with durability and it seems, to my logic anyway, that some of the protective elements in the Triggers must be thinned out to make it spray-able and thus affect durability. Is this correct? Does one compensate with more layers? Also I'm assuming the typical 12 to 24 hours of cure time between layers for the AJT?

Thanks,

Tim

If you like Klasse, I think you'll also like Werkstat acrylic products. I think the JW products look better than Klasse (less of a thick clearcoat look and more of a wet glossy look) and some people report better durability. I don't know if AJT being thinner really affects the durability, because it seems to me that applying more doesn't really get more to stick, it just ends up in the applicator or buffed off later. Besides, in practice I apply about two drops of AJ to a panel, or about one spray of AJT. One spray >> two drops, so the actual amount of polymer applied may be similar.

As for the carnauba products, I have used Prime Carnauba and Carnauba Glos as a cleaner/base and a refresher (respectively) for Collinite 915. That combination worked fine, but in the end I felt like the carnauba route was much more labor intensive and didn't give any better looks or protection than the acrylic products. After some time with all these products, I have pretty much settled on the acrylic products exclusively. The Prime Carnauba has a little filling ability, and I still use it occasionally by hand on things like interior wood trim.

Hi Tim. One big advatage of AJT is the short cure time. I think it's 1/2 hour if I remember correctly.

I really like AJ, it lasts at least 6 months here in UT for me. I have some Trigger, but have not used it yet. Prime Acrylic is also an awesome product.

From what I understand, the acrylics don't really cure. Once dry, they're done.

Instructions on the bottle of Acrylic Jett Trigger:

3. Buff: Spread thinly over a small area with a microfiber towel and continue to lightly buff until clear. If applying multiple layers, allow to cure 30 minutes between coats.

So the wording on the Werkstat bottle is wrong in a sense. I guess it should be given 30 minutes to "dry", not cure

Thanks for the info, I ordered AJT which should take care of me 'til next spring.

Not to hijack my own thread but the Optimum thread was interesting. How does Optimum compare to Klasse and JW, look and durability-wise?

Would I be right in thinking that if I wanted to put a layer of carnauba wax over AJT then I could do so 30 mins after buffing the AJT off?
