Just purchased Autoglym SRP

I was at my local product distributor and he just started to carry Autoglym. I went ahead and took his word on srp since he gave me a nice 8oz trial size to try for $3. Regular he sells the same botts for $8.50 so that was nice of him. He wants me to email him my honest review of it by next week. I have searched and read some posts so I am interested what my findings will be this weekend. I have a few details but I have a feeling weather will not be my friend on Saturday so I will have to wait till Sunday. Anyway let me if I should know anything before applying it. I was planning on use it on quick 2 step detail for a customer that does not want to pay too much to have his station car done. The car does not look too bad and honestly just needs a quick cleaning. I plan to use it via pc and white lc pad. Can I use via rotary with a white lc pad or is that a bad move. TIA

Firstly, never apply a LSP with a rotary unless its specifically designed to be machine applied. SRP isn't.

SRP has some decent cleaning ability so applying it with a white pad is fine...just use a low speed and don't over work it - its not a polish. With SRP, the longer you leave it before wiping the better. If you can afford the time, an hour or two is good.

BTW, what are the two steps?

Alfisti,

Thanks for the reply, I was not sure about the rotary usage on that product which is why I asked. The product seemed thick enough at first look. By 2 steps I would use a a 50/50 mix opt compoud and opt polish and then use the the srp on top. I will see how this combo work next week. Will probabyl use the PC with a white lc pad at speed 4. I hate not claying but some people just will not listen and will not pay for that service which is why I am looking for a shorter combo. I am feeling like a half a@@ but even after I demonstrate the difference some clients will not fork out the extra money.

topnotch- You'll do fine with Alfisti's advice :xyxthumbs I'd probably try to keep it off black trim, others seem to have more of an issue with staining than I do.

The PC/white/speed 4 oughta work out fine, that's about what I do when not using the Cyclo (which *is* a bit fast for the SRP).

I just used SRP on the winter wheels I took off the MPV. I really do like that stuff.

SRP doesn't last all *that* long by itself, but longer than AIO.

topnotch- Let us know what you think of the SRP. It has a peculiar smell that *I* like, but I can imagne others saying "yuck!". Almost forgot- don't use much-too-much or you'll get dusting.

Hi,

I used to use SRP on my car and it did give good results (like most sealants) but just didn't give out any warmth. I would usually leave it to sit/cure for 1 hour wipe it off and apply 2x coats of EGP (30 min dry/cure time between coats) which did add to the finish but topping that with a quality carnuamba eg, P21S, Nattys, Pinaccle just made it truly pop and it is hell to try and apply all that in one day! :grinno:

Alfisti says, SRP is not a polish bit of a miss leading name but almost everyone in the UK calls wax "polish" anyways so it doesn't matter. It may contain a filler but if it does its not very good.

Overall its all down to your personal prefernce, you'll either like it or want to move on to something else - I did the latter but at the end of the day it only cost you $3 so who cares? :D

I will update this post so keep it tabbed guys. I will take some pictures of the work I complete since I now have a new Canon 7.1mp camera. I finally retired my old 2.0 canon lol
