Hello everyone!

For my birthday this year i asked for a few things, but mainly wanted money so that I could buy a PC and polishes and stuff, well i ordered it all last week from AutoGeek.net, and it came today! I was so excited i even did half of my moms hood! Here it is all layed out, it came in one big box with alot of packing peanuts. I kept digging through it and finding more, i felt like it was christmas!

So, i really wanted to try out my stuff, so i did half of the hood on my moms 2001 Pontiac Montana. I washed the hood in the garage since its actually snowing outside right now:mad My pictures arent that good because its too dark in my garage. But i can tell you that i sure made a big difference!! The swirl marks are gone and it looks wet!

My process:

Wash

Clay with DP clay My mom couldnt believe how much better the paint felt after i clayed it, and all the crap that showed up in the clay!

Polish XMT2 with PC and orange LC Pad

Polish XMT2 with PC and white CCS pad

Polish by hand Klasse AIO

Wax with Liquid Pinnacle Souveran! As soon as i did the first wipe with this wax the paint looked soaked! i even said "ohh mann" out loud! Some other day i will have to do the entire car, untill then, heres the pics!

in this next pic, you can see the swirls on the left side, and the right side is swirl free.

Now i cant wait for a warm day so i can detail my own car!

I plan on doing details as a side business this summer.:redspot

You'll love that spray + rinse :). It's quite unlike anything that you'll find on store shelves, and you can dilute it 2 or 3 to one for weekly cleanings (full strength is not needed unless the rims are real dirty).

Very nice! I am sure you will have fun with all your new stuff.

Just a couple helpful hints...

1. Toss that white pad that comes with the PC in the trash. It is absolutely worthless.

2. Leave the handle off the PC, you will find it easier to use and keep level with the paint if you put your hand on the head of the PC.

These pics will show you what I mean. My son insisted I put the handle back on so he could use it. A few minutes later I look over and what do I see?

Notice the handle now gone! Also notice how the cord is drapped over his shoulder to prevent it from contacting the paint.

Man thats a nice setup, congrats!

Good job on the car too, cant wait to see the rest of it??

One question, what are those 2 big MF towels on the right side of the table?? Those look like they would be great drying towels

Jim

thanks for the replys guys! i dont plan on using that white pad that came with the PC, i thought maybe i could use it with Klasse AIO since it isnt abrasive? doesnt really matter..

The blue MF towels are Cobra ones that came with my PC kit from autogeek. they are decent size. I use "The Absorber" chamois to dry my car, havent ever used a MF. I use the cobra towels for wiping off polish and wax right now, but they seem pretty big for wiping of something so small. I have a ton of little 1'x1' MFs from walmart i could use for polish and stuff, do you really recomend using my big MFs for drying?

I think that towel is the cobra super plush deluxe or something like that, they are great for buffing off polishes and waxes and good for QD's. I use a Cobra Guzzler for drying.

Trust me, trash it.

I used mine when I first got my PC and using it with Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze, it left horrific marring all over the hood of a black Chevy Truck.

I wouldn't necessarily trash the pad. You never know when you will get the urge to shine up something completely random.

Looks like Christmas to me!

I used the white pad with some industrial cleaners and cleaned my shower with it. Didn't appear that the circa mid 80's tile minded it.

On a car, no ****ing way.

Yes, the included white pad from the Porter Cable polishing kit.

tmonsen5 -- What kind of car do you have? Also, I wouldn't use the Absorber, it would just drag dirt across paint if it wasn't perfectly clean and would induce swirling.

If your vehicle isnt perfectly clean after washing it you shouldnt be drying it anyways regardless of what drying media your using.

The Absorber does introduce some marring when dragged across the paint regardless of dirt or not. Blotting the water would work out however.

:waxing:

Not all paint finishes are equal, it may marr 1 cars finish while not marring a different cars finish.

Great pickups, quick question though. Would you reccomend this package as a start to detailing. I have read up on all the articles and have a decent view of detailing but have absolutely no products. I know I will probably need a few more things , but do you think this would be a good start. Also if you dont mind me asking , how much did you pay for it all. If you want to PM me the price, or if you don't want to at all that's fine too. Thanks.
