Hey guys I just bought mother's clay bar, sealer and glaze and carnauba wax (in wax form)

1. do i need the pre-wax cleaner from mothers (before sealer and glaze then wax)?
2. Is the sealer and glaze a sealant or not? or it's not that neccessary?
3. what do u guys suggest for a hand polish product before applying wax? eg. meg's swirl x, color x?

thanks guys and i appreciate your help

If you have not detailed the car in a year, it could always benefit from claying and a paint cleaning (Pre-Wax Cleaner).

The Sealer and Glaze is just a glaze (others call it a pure polish). It offers no long term protection unless topped by something else like Mothers Step 3.

If you want something available locally, SwirlX should work (never used it myself). If you use this, you can skip the pre-wax cleaner.

ColorX is a cleaner wax that is a one step product (polish and wax).

thanks for your reply, other than those meg's, what else do you suggest for a hand polish?
also, is mother's carnauba wax (wax form) good enough? or their carnauba cleaner wax (wax form) work better?

When you say "wax form" I'm guessing you mean paste form. They are generally distinguished by either saying liquid wax or paste wax.

I'm going to answer your question by saying there is nothing wrong with Mother's, but don't take mine or anyone else's word for it. Buy some different ones (from DetailCity.com of course) and see for yourself.:D

As bunky mentioned, you should use some sort of cleaner first. If your car is brand new, you could skip it, but even then you'd have better results doing Step 1 first anyway.
2. Is the sealer and glaze a sealant or not? or it's not that neccessary?
It is not a sealant. Again, as bunky mentioned, it's a glaze. It helps to fill fine imperfections and adds gloss.
3. what do u guys suggest for a hand polish product before applying wax? eg. meg's swirl x, color x?
If you are using ColorX you probably wouldn't need to use Steps 2 & 3 of the Mothers system, as ColorX is a 1 step "AIO" wax.

What are you looking to achieve with the hand polish? Oxidation removal? Scratch removal? Added clarity? Different products can achieve these goals, but you would likely use different products for the different results.

Thanks! i will definitely learn and compare stuff as I getting to detail more often

thanks for replying, I need some hand polish product that can remove swirl and light scartches. Do you have some product in mind and i could get it OTC?

Without knowing the condition of your paint, it is hard to judge what you really need but SwirlX can do some swirl removal but doubt it will remove them all. So after claying, then use SwirlX, then the Mothers Sealer Glaze and Wax since you have them. After this you can decide if you want look at other brands of waxes or maybe more paint correction.

my car is still pretty new but have minor swirls and scartches on it. Also I have the Auto Armor paint protection ( kind of like paint sealant) done to my car when i got it new from the dealer. So is the clay bar and polish gonna remove the Auto Armor thing?
And do i need another sealant to replace the Auto Armor thing?
Thanks again

The Auto Armor is from the dealer? If it is, they probably treated it before you left with the car.
You paid dearly for that.

Follow the directions that you get here, and you will be much happier with the results.

This is what this addiction of ours will get you. First thing that i would suggest is a PC 7424XT and a pad assortment, this will save you lots of time. Next get yourself some good compound " Meguiars M105 is a good one ), now get a good Paint Sealant " Wolfgang or Klasse will do great, Finally get some good Microfiber towels ( They will save you ).

Good luck,
Maknmony

You'll need something stronger than Mothers Step 1. Probably their Scratch Remover, but by hand it will be a long and tiring job.

Yes, it'll remove the AA if you remove the swirls/scratches. (The AA would be applied over the marring. In order to get to the marring, you need to go through the AA above it.) The Sealer/Glaze wouldn't likely be strong enough to remove it, though, if you went with just Steps 2 &3.
