What can I expect from this? Previously I've been using the Zymol auto shampoo. I needed something new and I found #00 at a decent price.

#00 is my shampoo of choice. It is a very mild product. Very good to great on the lubrication index. Fair on the sudsing index. If you like a tremendous amout of suds, you probably won't care for it.

YMMV,

i remember reading about the amount of sudsing being related to the hardness of the water.

is the lack of sudsing with #00 common?

Zilla,

I live in CT and we have soft water. #00 does not generate alot of suds. A little more than Zymol which I used to use.

If you want suds, lubrication and gloss go for Sonax.

If you want suds and lubrication go for P21S.

If you want lubrication you have it in #00.

If you want to spend your money go for Zymol.

Its probably the retail version of Zymol's expensive ($15-20) Clear Auto Shampoo in the 8.5 or 16 oz bottle.

#00 is a "High Lubricity" car wash. It is body shop safe in that it contains no silicones, wax or other ingredients that could affect paint adhesion.

It is formulated to wash fresh paint until manufactures recommended cure time is over. Meguiar’s always recommends you follow the paint manufactures recommendations for their coatings and not a second party wax company.

#00 is formulated to lubricate the surface while your wet-sanding. The lubricants help to give you a smooth cutting action as well as helping to prevent your sanding paper from loading up, thus increasing the longevity of the paper.

If you have ever worked in a machine or fabrication shop you undoubtedly have used oil on your drill bits while drilling, or on your saw blade while cutting. The oil acts to lubricate both the cutting edge of drill bit/teeth of the saw blade and the steel your trying to drill or cut through. This gives you a smoother cut while increasing the longevity of the bit/blade.

For wet-sanding, you don't want a lot of suds or the suds will block your view of the finish as your sanding it.

#00 has just as much "Cleaning" ability as any non-detergent wash, it's just not specifically formulated for lots of suds.

I have met many Meguiar's "Purists" and #00 is all they use.

If you want lots of suds and body shop safe features then use #62 Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner.

If you want lots of suds and you don't care if it's body shop safe then use Meguiar's Rich Suds or #D-21 Car Wash Soap in the Detailer line which is available in 1, 5, 30, and 55 gallon containers.

This soap really cleans and suds well.

I use #00 all the time. I really like it. It has a ton of lubrication and not a lot of suds, as said. I use 1 1/2 capfuls for about 1 1/2 - 2 gallons of water (a 2 1/2 gallon bucket). I really like it. It feels incredibly mild and is great for someone who washes their car a lot. I think it must be about the most gentle thing on your wax save water alone. However, if your car is really gross or you have a lot of bugs and crap, you might want to save the #00 for the next time. I usually use the Blackfire shampoo when I have some bugs to deal with.

I guess it depends on what you want out of a soap. I just want very gentle, safe cleaning. The super slickness of #00 gives me a lot of confidence in it. I really don't care about suds, and they can make it tougher to see if you got the crud out of your wash mitt, or to see how cruddy the water is getting. I also don't want a lot of gloss from it because it feels like something got left behind on your paint (which I guess it did). Who knows what it does for you protection, and how it interacts if you want to apply another layer... I always follow up a wash with a QD session just to make sure there are no little water spots. So I pick a QD (or don't QD) based on what I will do next. My car wash really doesn't need to add gloss or slickness.

How much did it cost you? It costs me about the same as a 16 oz of Gold Class car wash, about $5. Of course, you can easily buy 4-8 times that much Gold Class for like another dollar or three.

Jeez Mike, you need to write a book! See what the higher-ups in the company think about that. I would sure buy it. :xyxthumbs

Hmm, I might have to try this stuff out someday then, since those are also priorities of mine in washing. I usually just mix up the soap I'm using very gently so I don't make many suds. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but what does #00 smell like?

I currently favour the cheapo Zymol wash because it's slick and smells nice. :D It gets down to about $10 when on sale though, zilla.

Well, I used #00 last night.

My overall impressions that it was ok. About the same cleaning power, if not less, than the zymol stuff.

and it doesn't smell as nice as zymol :D

personally i love Gold Glass, once you try it you wont use anything else imo. smells great, lots of suds, just wish CT sold it! CMAX can get the small bottle for $12 i think?? forget what he said exactly

Yeah, that's actually what I like about it. Not a lot of cleaning power. I don't need a lot. I don't want something that is much stronger than I need because I imagine it is unduly harsh on things (though it's all just soap, so we aren't talking mega harsh or anything). I don't really want an overkill car wash. I wash a lot and keep my car clean so #00 is just right. On the occasions I need a little more power, I use something else. I like it because it is the mildest thing (I've found) that still does the job. That's exactly what I want.

#00 smells ok, but it has no fruity smell or anything. I guess a mild colonge-type smell would be the best way to describe it. I only notice it when smelling the bottle. It doesn't seem to smell (or smell strongly enough to notice) when mixed in the bucket.

I use different washes for different conditions of my paint. If it has been driven in the rain or it has been a week since I washed, I use goldclass. If the car is basically clean(when some people would just qd) I use the #00. I also use the #00 as lube for my clay, works great!

My personal ranking of the car shampoos I have used.

1. Eimann Fabrik Power Wash +

2. Meguiras Gold Class

3. Mothers California Gold

4. Meguiars Car Wash Soap

5. Meguiars Hi-Tech Wash

6. Rain X

7. Turtlewax Zip Car Soap
