I just purchased a Griots Garage 6" da polisher. I was thinking of buying a 6 pack of lake country pads (2 orange, 2 white, 1 blue and 1 black) then a 5.5" backing plate and pinnacle cleaner and conditioner. Im still trying to decide what to get. What would you recommend?

The Griot's DA already comes with a backing plate. Did you purchase it used without one? If it's new it should have included one.

Your pad selection looks good. 6.5 inch pads would work fine with the included griots backing plate. The cleaner and conditioner are definitely key products while buffing and cleaning on the fly.

Is this for your VW that you have in your avatar? If so, tell us what the current condition the car is in? It would allow us to better gauge what you may or may not need.

I have a 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg and the only thing is when I had my windows tinted there are some minor scratches from a zipper on a jacket and then swirls from washing it. The Griots came with a 6" pad bug from my research everyone says to get a 5" backing plate so you can use a 5.5" pad.

5.5 Inch pads make for more efficient correction. You could certainly swap as the 5 inch backing plate is compatible with the griot's DA.

The last time I polished a VW was the newer R32. It was in pretty bad shape. I used Meguiar's 105 and 205 on it and it came out fantastic. VW's are notorious for their hard clear coats.

I would recommend getting extra pads. I would get at least 3 to 4 of each polishing pad (orange, white).

I do not think the Griot's orange foam is the same as Lake Country orange though but have similar purposes.

Or what would you guys recommend if I didn't specify what I was looking into? The megs da mf starterckit is sold out at auto geek now which was the alternative to me buying the other stuff and using the ultimate compound and ultimate polish

5.5 inch pads give you perfect result with your 6" da polisher and 6 pack combo which you have selected is also best.

The individual parts that are in the starter kit should be available

1) (2 pack) Megs 5.5" DA MF cutting discs
1) (2 pack) Megs 5.5" DA MF finishing discs
1) D300 - Megs DA MF Compound 16oz
1) D301 - Megs DA MF Finishing Wax 16oz
1) Megs W67DA 5" DA Polisher Backing Plate

The difference...with the kit you get an apron and the pretty box.

You should also get a 6 pack of 5.5" LC flat foam pads
2) Orange 2) White 1) Black 1) Blue

I called up auto geek and the kits are on back order and they don't know how long it will be. Now this may be q stupid question but will the pads in that kit work if I want to use megs cleaner wax, carnuba of nxt 2.0?

Okay thanks. Sorry for all the questions. I am use to having a 1999 vw passat where I could experiment around and not mind if I made something look less than par. Now I have a new car and want it to look impeccable as long as possible

The items in the list of above are the contents of the kit (less the Megs apron). You can order the individual DA MF items. They are available.
When you order the individual kit items you do not get it packaged in a sparkling hologram box that you will throw away.

Use the 5.5" LC flat foam pads (or by hand) for these products.

Did the new car come with Dealer Installed Swirls (DIS)?

Well it had some from new and then me, the dumb ass owner decided to hand wash it during the winter and caused more damage that good. I had the windows tinted too and the guy who did them had a zipper on his jacket that made a few scratches. After that i cranked up the heat in our garage, clayed, cleaner waxed, and put nxt on. Didnt really help at all but made me feel better with it being protected for the winter. Winter is coming to an end here in Wisconsin so I have the itch to get my car looking good again.
