After reading through a lot of threads in the search area I am still a little confused on what backing plate to put on my new PC 7336SP. Is it better to put a 5" backing plate or a 6" backing plate like I was planning. Which is actually better for vibration. Of course I plan on using all 6.5" pads. just would like to know whats best before I order. Thanks for the help/info.

I use a 5" backing plate with 6.5" pads. That keeps more pad between the backing plate and the paint.

You can also get a different counterweight if vibration is a problem. They all vibrate to some degree, though, as it's a single pad oscillating back and forth. My 5" Meg's plate, 6.5" pads, and 6" counterweight have worked fine for me.

I'd say get whatever backing plate you like or whatever one the place you are getting your pads from sells. :)

What ZaneO says, plus depending on what pad you use a 6" backing plate may extend right up to, or beyond the Velcro. That could cause the backing plate to cut into the back of your pad. I know the Velcro on my orange LC pad (6.5â€Â) doesnâ€â„¢t extend very far at all past my 5â€Â backing plate.

Thanks for the information given so far. I understand the problems that some are having with using

a 6.5" pad on a 6" backing plate but could that be a result of the quality of the Backing plate and/or Pads. just a thought. I am hoping to purchase some product tommorrow so I have it in time for the weekend and my week off before Christmas. Thanks again for the help.
