Hi Everyone,

First off, thank you to everyone who's posted and given us a bit of their wisdom. Took me two days but I finally read every post of the rotary usage thread which was immensely helpful. After spending the last 4 days reading as much as I possibly could I feel like I'm ready to make the jump. To be sure I'm not overlooking something for my initial setup, any advice on the purchase would be helpful.

Been price shopping and right now the intro pad kit from AG (If you’re in the market for a dual action polisher, look no further than the Porter Cable 7424!) sounds great or the DI Starter Kit (DI Packages Porter Cable 7424 XP 6.5" Starter Kit | Detailed Image). Right now I'm leaning towards the AG Kit since it starts off with a 5" backing plate which from what I've read seems like a good way to go for a newbie.

I'd likely also get some orange pads, more gray/black and white pads too to work on a few other cars before I touch mine. Right now I have megs UC, which worked great albeit I did my car by hand. I considered the other kits but for now and the general consensus seems to be, KISS, so I would prefer not to introduce any other products until I'm better at the trade and can more quickly get a feel for using different products for experimenting.

My intended usage for the PC is polishing/buffing of course, but to also use it for applying sealants/waxes which from what I've read black/gray pads work great for or would folks recommend blue's instead for this?

Thanks,

I'm not a pro, but I saw that you plan on using UC with the 7424. My experience is that the combo worked very well on my cars. I used an orange Adam's pad to apply UC, then I used a black Adam's pad to apply a Megs carnauba wax. Both cars look better than ever.

I just received mine & Pads today

Orange pad for polishing and scratches

Grey for Glaze, Cleaner Wax

Blue for Sealant/Wax

I use the black pad for wax, gold for sealant and the white for glaze - all this is in the GlossHaus kit (along with orange pads for the med/fine polishes and yellow for the aggressive polishes).
