Hi, I am new to the forum. Yesterday I tried my first attempt at detailing. I will list my Products, Lake Country 7.5” Constant pressure White, Black Red and Orange Power Pad. Porter Cable 7424, Meguiar’s #9 Swirl Remover and #3 Machine Polish. One 1979 Mazda Rx-7 with original paint 20,000 miles and no real paint damage by that I mean it has developed some very fine swirl marks I believe these were caused by taking the car cover on and off over 26 years It also when purchased was given a application of Body Glow by the dealership (a paint protectant claiming never to need waxing). The reason for my interest in detailing is the car has developed a haze over the years and the swirl marks. Now my question, I used the white pad, all went well but I can still see some of the swirl marks. Can I switch to the orange pad with the Meguiar’s #9 Swirl Remover without causing any damage? Is the pad to aggressive or will it be ok to use? Sorry for the length of this post. Thanks in advance to all. By the way this forum rules

Work your #9 with a polishing pad after you used a cutting pad. Then follow up using #3 with a finish or polishing pad . I don't know which pad you have . Meguiar's #9 is a more aggressive polish /cleaner while #3 is a pure polish . Since #3 is a glaze it has the ability to hide swirls so keep that in mind . Good luck
