i was wondering. i'm will be a senior in high school this up coming aug. for awhile i've wanted to be a graphic designer. but i never realized, my main job through high school is detailing cars. i love doing it and theres nothing more satifactory than seeing a car go through a transformation after a good detail. is there anything i can take in college to get a degree in auto care or anything and just detail cars for a living and open up a shop. i would appreciate all the help i can get. and if you own your own detail shop, how did you get started. i appreciate it.

I would suggest you work on a major in business and take it from there. You may find detailing is just a pleasureable activity that you dont want to mix with work. Or maybe it goes hand in hand with what you do. :up Whatever you do tho... GOOD LUCK!:xyxthumbs

Agreed. Knowing the basics in business is a must for running your own business if you want to be successful. Learning how to detail well isn't really that hard as long as you apply yourself and strive be the most knowledgable and skilled detailer in your area.

True. The business end is why so many detailers just don't last.

I was a restaurant manager for several years, so I already knew the basics of running a business.

ok, i've been thinking a lot. i'm gonna change my senior year schedule so i can have college release. i'll take auto tech classes are the comm. college so i can get a head start on that. then in college i'm gonna major in business. so hopefully when i'm done with college and i save a **** load of money up. i want to open up a business related to auto repair/ performance/ detail shop. kinda the one stop shop. but thats a long time down the road. but thats where i'm kinda headed. what do you guys think. i appreciate all the help i can get.

There is a LOT of money to be made in auto appearence and performance. I am sticking with appearence and we now offer paintless dent repair/paint chip repair/minor body work and full detailing services.
