Is Silver "un-poppable"?

Like the topic says - is silver one of those colors that you just have to accept as not being able to get a reaction from?

Maybe I am unecessarily putting layers of 1Z Glanz Wax on the car to try to get the look I want, but do you think I should step up to P21S? I saw a the write up for top of the line's Pizazz wax, but its hard for me to believe that it is that much better than P21S/S100 or Natty's.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. BTW the car is a brand new satin silver 2004 Acura TSX.

You won't get the depth and reflection of a black car, but you can get an excellent shine. IMO Menzerna's FTG looks awsome on silver.

I love silver!!!!

That is two coats of Pinnacle Paste Glaz on top of their paint cleansing lotion and a clay application.

That certainly is good work!

I keep waffling between Signature & Pizazz as my final topping. Now that I've got a PC I'm going to start over. I plan to use SSR1, Sonus Paintwork Cleanser, AIO, EX-Px2, and either Signature or Pizazz. I've got everything but the carnuba so I'll have to decide soon.

I guess I do too. We have an '03.5 Silver Reflex New Beetle Turbo S, and a '96 Pewter Volvo 850 GLT. The Silver Reflex is a lighter/brighter silver, while the Pewter is darker leaning towards a gray. Both paints are metallic.

On the Silver Reflex, I currently have Pinnacle's Liquid Souveran over AIO (x2). I don't know whether I would describe the resulting finish as (to use your phraseology) poppable, but rather "shimmering". The metal flake is definitely visible.

On the Pewter, I have Poorboy's EX (x3) over Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish, preceeded by the DC Paint Cleaner. I wouldn't say the finish pops either, but it has good depth and is also reflective.

The Volvo, which we have owned since it was new has had a variety of polish/wax combinations over the years, and frankly it is hard to find one that doesn't look good.

I have also added PB's PWC and EX-P for use on the lighter colored cars.

I do think that both silver and white cars can be made to look very nice, and have the additional benefit of not showing minor defects as readily as darker colors.

Yup that Corvette certainly showed what Paste Glaz can do. I wonder how you can affect the chemistry of waxes to work better with blacks vs light colors. I guess thats why those chemists make the big bucks.

Once my can of Glanz Wax runs out - I figure I will wash, clay, wash, polish with Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze, and seal with Paste Glaz.

I'll take pictures to show everyone how it goes. Can't expect to do it for awhile though.

Look familiar? :D

Satin Silver TSX

Congrats on the new car! I'm sure you'll be as pleased as I have been with mine!

And I've had great success with Pinnacle Paste Glaz and their new Signature Series. Definitely get the pop I want by topping with ClearKote QuickShine or Meguiar's Quick Detailer/Final Inspection.

To me, silver is a blessing and a curse, especially if it is new. IMO it is the perfect color for a car because it does so good at looking good in all conditions, it really has to be FILTY to look bad. You can get a great liquid gloss with just about brand, but I use just one coat of 1ZGW and it looks great to me. I tried adding a layer of S100 but it really didn't make that big of a difference so I just stick with the GW. I found that the S100 was slicker but the look was pretty much the same. The important part of having a new silver car is in the details, so to speak. You've got to make the trim look great and keep the tires clean and black and make the wheels shine like crazy too.

he did use EX w/caranuba, so maybe the EX-P w/ a caranuba topper.:nixweiss

Wow, that's the first time someone's ever linked my work! Thanks! :)

Silver is a great color to work with, it doesn't look dirty nor does it show imperfections as much as dark colors do. So far, the best look I've found on silver is the bright and clear look. To me, Zaino, UPP and S100 are excellent on silver. I've used the Klasse twins and Zaino on Satin Silver with good results, though Klasse has this more "candy" look to it. I'm still experimenting with EX, but so far, it looks promising. It's been 3 weeks since my initial application of EX, and the paint still feels slick, there's minimal dust attraction and it has this nice carnauba look to it. So far, so good.
