Is SG deceptive?

First time with SG tonight, I'm still waiting till after my paint cures to put it on the car but I couldn't resist trying Klass so I whipped out an extra fender I had. Its black as well and the paint condition is not too shabby. Here's what I did:

Clay

Pinnacle Swirl Remover

Wiped down with PB's Mist and Wipe

AIO x 2

SG x 1

I wanted to see what the fuss was about with SG. On one half the fender I put a thin application, on the other half I generously layed it on. I think its hard to put too much on, I never realiazed it was going to have the consistancy of soapy water. A thick liquid like you see in polishes or liquid waxes I can see laying on thick but SG was simple to use sparingly and tough to spread evanly thick. I let both sit about 45 min then came back (was getting impatient). The thin side came off with no problem whatsoever, the side layed on thick just took a little more effort.

How do people go about laying on too much of this stuff that it becomes a problem? Is it because by the time you're ready for SG its towards the end of the entire detailing process and easier to just pour it on? BTW, I really liked the result of even SG x 1, tomorrow I'm going to see if the dreaded hazing has kicked in and then lay on another coat. I just don't see what the fuss about it being a PITA is about though, its so thin in consistency that I thought it was as easy as AIO to apply :nixweiss

BTW, I did the follwoing to my polished aluminum Weld Racing wheels:

McGuire's Billet Polish (applied via nitrile gloves)

AIO x 2

SG x 1

Results were outstanding, I'd always heard people using AIO on metal but I wanted to try SG as well - it really shines! I'm going to keep layering SG on the aluminum to see if it keeps getting better - bare aluminum needs all the protection it can get.

(in this case especially, it was very difficult to use too much SG due to its conisitency - although I was WOOing)

why AIO x 2?? and with AIO, you don't have to wait for it to cure or anything. its a simple on and off application. AIO is a cleaner and something for SG to bong to. so additional coats of AIO from what i have read is a waste. SG i think just is easier to take off when done with a light layer. plus its not necessary to use a lot. why waste product and time?? oh well.. my .02. lookin forward to seeing pics!!!!

What product is this? Did you mean Meguiars? I don't think they make a billet polish. Or do you mean Mothers?

Sorry, Mother's Billet Polish... I posted this late last night, my memory and spelling hard apparently started fading :)

AIO x 2 was something I've seen done several times here in the forums, supposedly to be sure all ares have been covered. I put AIO on very thin the first time and since I was just working on an extra fender I have (not doing the car yet) I thought x2 wouldn't hurt. You're right, the extra AIO didn't do anything. Again, I was just experimenting to see how hard Klasse was to work with.

I wasn't really trying to waste product, just curious to see how much was too much. Since I wasn't working on the car, just a leftover part, I didn't mind trying to duplicate the "mistakes" I've read about with Klasse SG. I'm going to go check for any signs of hazing now, if there aren't any then I'll really be looking forward to applying Klasse twins on the whole car.

I'll snap some pics after I get a couple more coats of SG on :D
