Is it safe to install door edge moulding?

i came to know that this molding is often responsible to fade original car paint and usually do not last more than 4 or 5 months.
So is it safe to go for it?

also i came to know there are many different sizes like u shaped 6mm, 7mm,8mm,10mm,15,, and 25mm but i dont know which one is suatable for car door edges,bonut edges and dicci edges.

most edge guard is safe, it has an adhesive inside the groove that tends to get gooey in the higher heat regions
Personal preference on the size, but I would probably go with the 7mm or 8mm size
IMO, the only place to install it would be the door edges where theres a chance to chip from hitting something when opening
There is also PPF (paint protection film) cut to size for door edges as well. It appears invisible unlike the black or chrome types
