is it a scratch or a swirl and what to use?

I couldn’t get some sun-baked whatever off our Gray/Silver ’92 Saab 900. So stupitly, I tried a Scrunge. Is the result considered a swirl or a scratch? Can I get most of it back with Zaino or some other; and if so, what to use? Or do I need a trip to the Body Shop?

Oh, by the way..., what is a PC? Porter Cable Orbital?

and 3M SMR. is that an abbreviation for the product? What’s it’s full name or product number? Mail order or US Auto store or what?

In addition always start with the least abrasive compound and work your way up. Depending on how hard you where pushing down and for how long will give you an idea of the damage done.

Once you do apply a rubbing compound of whatever if available to you, look for the colour of your car. Is that visible on the applicator? If so you have cut through the clear coat. Then it may be time to visit your body shop.

My plan would be a Dawn wash, a Clay Magic app, 3M SMR, then Zaino.

Good plan? Anything else I should consider?

Which are the “important of the Zainos?
