Is Clearkote Quick Shine Worth it?

I bought a gallon of Clearkote's Quick Shine for $38.00 plus $8.00 shipping for a total of $46.00. Everything you say about QS is true. It is easy to use and gives a great shine to my black Santa Fe with three coats of S100.

A gallon of 3M Gloss Enhancer for $25.88 net of shipping charges is easy to use and gives a great shine to my black Santa Fe.

Is Quick Shine worth a $20.12 difference in price? I, for one, do not think so.

"Caveat Emptor."

You may also want to look into:

quickshine can clean chrome & windows streak free. I use it on just about everything.

IMO it is well worth it

I love the stuff. It works great after a wash to put a nice shine on and like NYD said, works very well on windows too. Everyone has their own preference in products. Sometimes people are willing to pay more for a product that works welll and makes the job quicker and easier. Price isn't everything. If that was the case, we'd all be using Turtle Wax from Big Lots. :D

Have you done a price/use analysis? :nixweiss Quoting net cost without "use" cost is unfair. Quick Shine is very cost effective when used properly. Does not create a QD build-up after several uses and can be used on both carnuaba or sealants with equally good results.

1 gal of meg's FI: $22.99

32 oz of mother's QD: $9.59

128 oz in a gallon, 1 gal of mother's = $38.36

QS isn't really way out there. I'm still undecided, but willing to give QS a try.

Good math, bad logic. It's not really fair to conclude that a gallon of mother's qd will cost you as much as four quarts of it will. A quart of QS is $15. If i multiply that by 4, then that's $60. Compare $60 bucks to $38.36. Sorry, you can't do that. If you're gonna use the gallon price for one, you have to use it for both.

:wall :wall ....doh, my bad. I was going with the largest volumes each offers (mother's doesn't have the gallon). Must not do math after 10 hrs of programming :)

QS: $15 for 32oz

Mother's: $9.59 for 32oz

FI: ??? $6 for 16oz, $23 for 1 gal...probably = mother's

I'm pretty sure there is a gallon size available for Mother's Showtime. Let me search some old threads to find the info...

EDIT: The part number for gallons of showtime is 08202. Not sure how much though. Forrest?

I buy quarts of Quikshine for $11 each at the shop at the mall near me, so I pay a little less than the cost of a gallon plus shipping so for me it comes out to $44 a gallon. I can get Meguiars Final Inspection (which I used faithfully for 8 years) for $18 a gallon and I haven't bought any FI since I stumbled across Quikshine.

Like NY Detailing pointed out, you can use it on windows, chrome, etc and also in your home on counter tops, TV and monitor screens, etc.

Even though some people may not be as sold on Moose Wax or Vanilla Moose as some of us are, it seems to be pretty universal that Quikshine is an excellent quick detailer. Whether or not you think it is worth twice as much as other products is up to you. I am satisfied with the results of a $15 jar of S100 and others prefer Souveran at $70 a jar. Same difference.

I've always used QD's on chrome, glass, paint, everything but rubber and plastic. I've also used them on TV screens, appliances, etc. I don't see how Quik Shine is any better or different than any other QD out there.

E1 Wet Wipe & Shine, Meg's #34, Zaino Z6 all work exactly the same as Quik Shine.

Not all of us have a local shop that sells CK products super cheap so while cost is not a factor for a few people, it is for the majority of us. I can buy 20oz. bottles of E1 for $4.19 locally. In other words I can buy two bottles of E1 for the shipping cost of Quik Shine.

Unless you can buy Quick Shine locally for a really good price, I wouldn't bother with it unless you are totally in love with the product.

Until you use it, you won't know. I'll send you a sample if you'd like. No obligation.

:nixweiss I'm only saving $2 a gallon by buying it in quarts (and that does include shipping. I use it because I believe it to be worth twice the price of other products.

Bret, have you ever used Quik Shine? Larry

Nope. Do I need to? I can't see what's so unique or different about it compared to all the other QD's on the market.

Thank you for the offer, Scott, but I am swimming in gallons of QD. Gotta burn thru the stuff I've got now. I'm sure Quick Shine works well - just like most every other QD on the market.

It's a standing offer. I'd be skeptical too if I hadn't tried it myself. If you had told me the day before I tried Quikshine that I would find a procuct that costs more than twice as much as Meguiars #34 and I'd be willing to pay the extra, I would have though you were nuts! :p Little did I know...

I just stopped by for a gallon of FI this afternoon and they gave me some stuff called SPC30 - Finish Enhancer. They said its the thing as FI but made exclusively for PPG (the store where I got it sold mainly ppg stuff). I should be getting some confirmation about the product tomorrow if it is indeed the same thing. Cheapest place I could find it was for $22.xx plus tax.

No, not at all. I think we can all agree you are making assumptions without any hands on experience with the product. Best Regards, Larry
