Is AIO a good base for EX?

I'm wondering if I can use AIO as a base for EX with carnauba? I don't see why not, it seems AIO is a good base for almost any sealant. Any opinions on how AIO + EX might work and look?

AIO is a good base for any LSP.

AIO/EX would be a glossy wet, carnauba look. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

What color vehicle?

Black... its brand new paint, all I have on now is IHG. I can't wait for the first full detail :) Glossy wet carnauba look is what I'm looking for, I even have some PS I'd like to top off the AIO + EX with.

I had bought the Klasse twins but all my research on them has scared me away from SG. SG isn't out of the picture completely, I just want it to go as easily as possible the first time around while still looking as goos as possible. So looks like it will be 3M PI-III MG, AIO, EX x ?, PS paste... all by hand since I'm too broke from the paint job still to go buy a PC :(

:scared Not Black! I got so frustrated today washing up my black car, noticing all these imperfections all over the darn thing. :angry Someday, when I repaint, I'm going with another color, even if it knocks off some value.

don't be afraid of SG, SG isn't hard to use at all. Look up Bill's method of Wipe on Wipe off. Sg is a great product, but EX is good too. They all give a different look and don't be afraid to experiment with them all.

I've never seen complaints about a sealant like I do about SG... I also have seen a lot of praise for it, almost as much as any other sealant. Its this inconsistancy thats causing me to put off SG for EX. Can't beat PB's for ease of use...

I also think that the carnauba in the EX will make for a better bond with the Souveran vs. the PS over SG. Am I right that EX would be more carnauba topper friendly?

Like the others have pointed out, AIO is a great base for any LSP.

Tanguy-not sure if because EX contains some carnauba that Souveran would bond better but I do like using Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba under #16 or Nattys because I don't think you can have too much carnauba!

BTW, Souveran is excellent over EX.

Scott,

I totally agree with you about the Carnauba!

Here are two pics of my former jet black 740iL with EX over either VM or AIO.

EX x 3 topped with Souveran x 2.

You can never have too much Carnauba on dark colors! :D

SHICKS,

Thanks for the compliment! I no longer own that Bimmer - I now have a titanium silver 7 series. Even though it is soooo much easier taking care of the silver paint, I do miss detailing jet black to a dripping wet finish! :xyxthumbs

Cheers,

Awesome black BMW! That year you had was definately one of the best for the 7 series. BMW made a mistake with the new design, as it is too rounded and it definately lost its sporty touch.

JM19,

I agree with you about the E38, (BMW 7 series fromt 1995 through 2001), it is a great combo of sport and luxury! After I sold my '99, I got a 2001 740i Sport to replace it. Here is a shot of my new Bimmer.

Ah-Huh! Another Bimmer lover! :xyxthumbs Nice wet look on your steel gray! If you get a chance, try the EX-P as a last step to your finish. It leaves a very glossy wetness to silver and gray metallics.

Any more pics of your 325i?

Do you think it looks a little sterile? I have been trying for the wet look on this car, NXT was close, but there was something about it I did not like. Next spring I am going to go nut and buy a bunch of new product.

SHICKS,

I don't think it looks sterile but out of all the last step producs that I have tried, EX-P & #16 seem to make silvers and grays the wettest looking. I have also heard that Natty's wax is very wet looking as well.

I was considering P21S, I have all winter to decide, so I'll be looking for as much input as possible.

Thanks,

Steve

AIO is an awesome base for pretty much anything you want to top it with. I have had great results topping AIO with EX-P and Pinnacle Signature. Dwayne from Detail City has just tried topping AIO with 4* UPP...he was happy enough to post the results and create a new "kit" for PAC.

To be honest, AIO looks so good that you hesitate to put anything else on there!

Did you say EX-P on silver? ;)
