I was noticing that most of my swirl marks are on my hood. The hood was repainted for cosmetic reasons by a previous owner. The car has 320,000 km (approx 200,000 miles) on the odometer.
So, the parts of the paint that have seen the most wear and tear, have fewer swirl marks than the newer paint. Is that normal? Is it that hoods swirl up faster? Is factory paint more resistant to swirls, or is it maybe that original Volvo paint is more resistant to swirls? Or was it a crumby paint job (I already have some opinions on that due to other flaws in the paint on the hood)?
