Iridescent spots?

Sorry for the cell phone pic, it's all I could muster up. So this lady has a 2006 black BMW. She's upset about these tiny iridescent spots that won't come out. By "iridescent" i mean they look like when rain hits oil on pavement-that colorful like glow. We were pawing at them and they actually seem to be under the clear. I can't feel a difference in texture running my nail over them or seem to remove them by aggitating them with my finger. They seem to be random placed too, all over the hood-and are most noticible under flourescent lights. What can i do here? Wet sand? Repaint it? I don't want to do work on her car w/out knowing i'm going to satisfy this issue.

clay bar it first and see if the clay removes it... That should tell you pretty quick if it's something you can tackle or if it;s under the clear and would need a repaint.

IMO, this looks like and could be acid rain damage. After claying the vehicle you may try using a D/A with M205 to clean up any of the blemishes or stains caused by the contaminants. Follow up with a premium wax or sealant for protection. If the D/A fails to clean up the stains you may have to resort to a rotary polisher.....

That's what I was thinking too, and IME that sort of damage a) usually needs wetsanding/compounding/polishing to correct and b) is often too serious for safe correction.

A close-up/macro pic would help, hard to diagnose over the 'net..
