I'm still confused about what to put on my BMW leather when i pick the car up next week. Z10? 303? Nothing?

Is there any updates regarding the best product to use on clear-coated leather???

Both products work well. LEXOL produces a higher gloss shine, while zaino maintains the factory satin low gloss shine. Pick one depending on your preference. For the dash and door panels and everything else in my BMW, I use 303. It has a very thin consistancy and offers even coverage. Works great!

This is what I've gathered for leathers with a finished treatment consisting basically of a clear vinyl topcoat:

Cleaners:

Any good leather and/or vinyl cleaner should do. (e.g. Lexol cleaner).

Not sure which one is most suitable (leather cleaner, vinyl cleaner, or combination leather/vinyl cleaner), but supposedly they're all pretty much the same. You just have to make sure they don't have certain ingredients.

Protectants:

Leather conditioners are useless for finished leathers. The conditioner will just sit on the surface and wouldn't be absorbed through the topcoat. It's not bad for the topcoat, but it doesn't do anything for the leather.

303 protectant seems to be a good choice for finished leathers. But I question the effectiveness of such a protectant on seats that will endure a lot of rubbing and contact. Since it's not a product that gets absorbed, won't it get rubbed right off after a couple of days? It may be good for back seats that don't get a lot of use. As for the UV protection, your new bimmer likely comes with UV-blocking glass that has an SPF rating far beyond the "SPF 40" that the 303 protectant claims.

Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the concensus is, but here's where I pulled the info from:

A follow up, received this from Lexol:

The "clear coat" is an impervious protective film which keeps foreign materials out of the leather. It also keeps out Lexol as it cannot be absorbed. The Lexol won't hurt the leather because it isn't absorbed.

I manufacture leather gun holsters and I would ask the dealer and find out what they recommend. Different leather will react differently depending on how it was tanned.{what was done to it to get the leather the way the manufacture wanted it, to produce the final product}. Lot of chemicals are used.

The problem is that you'd be lucky to find anyone at your car dealer that actually knew enough about the leather being used to make an expert recommendation.

I usually keep my interior pretty clean. I can keep on top of it by vacuuming, and wiping down the interior with either the ultima interior shampoo or Megs interior detailer.

After 6 weeks of exterior construction and a new driveway, (and fall little league) my interior is dirty and dusty. Its black so everything shows!

I can tackle the mats, leather, windows and dash. I am unsure of how to clean the instrument cluster plastic? I do not want to scratch it and it is very dusty. Also, how can I get into the corners?

Lastly, is there an interior detailing procedure on the site that I may have missed? I checked the Shine institue but is there another place to look for reference?

Thanks,

Jeff

I use an interior brush to agitate, Ill spray with apc+ then agitate gently and gently vac it up followed by a wipe with a MF cloth. I will then follow up with a Megs QID wipe to clean any residue up.

Did you mean APC the instrument cluster plastic shield (window)? I am afraid the liquid would leak behind it?

For the instrument panel cluster I would use a wet mf to remove the dust flipping after every swipe. Then use some Plexus with a short nap mf (like a polish removal towel) to shine it up.

What is the best interior detailer???

I have used the best and now I am convinced that the best does not work. I am new to the forum and drive a 2010 Range Rover with a black interior. So I feel for all the guys who have the problem with everything showing on black leather.

So here is my ordeal I have used in the past all the products out there but which one do you guys recommend. I have found a small company in the dupont registry named Uberwurx has anyone every heard of them and or used them???

This is website for the new product... please let me know what you guys think..
