Interesting approach a "detailer" was taking

I was talking to the customer with the swirled LS430 after I finished and she mentioned a few weeks ago, some guy came to her door and said he had come out to detail the doctor's car up the street but he had an emergency at the hospital and had to cancel. She said he told her he was driving by and saw her Lexus in the drive and noticed the swirls so he figured since he now had time and was in the area, it couldn't hurt to ask. She said something didn't seem quite right, so she asked which house the doctor lived in and what his name was so she could call him for a reference. She said he at first didn't seem to know what to say but them stammered something about "he is a private person, I'd have to check with him before giving out his name.".

:LOLOL

Anyway, she then said it did get her thinking about the swirls in her car and since I had done a good job on her I30 that she sold prior to buying the Lexus, she had her husband call me. She then said if I ever needed a reference, she would gladly give one! :)

This guy must have worked for one of those meat / seafood delivery places. We had a guy come into our office a few days ago telling us how he had all these steaks in his truck...his customer was supposed to meet him & didn't show up...he's going to get in trouble with his boss if he doesn't sell them to someone...and they're $8 steaks that we can have for only $2!

It's funny, because I rarely see these guys actually making deliveries-they're always going door-to-door with the same line.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. I was at the bank and a van pulled up and the guy driving said he was on his way to deliver these speakers to a club or something and thay gave him 2 extras by accident. He told me $700 to start and actually talked him down to $300 to actually see how low he would go. Anyways, I never bought them and found out from other people that this is a common thing they do. Too funny !

I had the ole' steak approach pulled on me before. Didn't buy though. The only door to door food selling company I will buy from is Schwans's

Hah, this all reminds me of the "white van" speaker guys. I get hit up by them almost every time I'm at a home depot. They're like an institution.

I always used to get guys that would come to the office I worked in trying to sell artwork despite a large NO SOLICITING sign in front of them.

I wouldn't say anything a point to the sign. They would keep talking and I would point to the sign again. Then they walk away and I wave goodbye to them without ever opening up my mouth.
