Install vinyl stripes over BF WD?

Hi all,

A couple weeks ago I did a full paint correction on my car ending in BF WDAPP. I'm planning on having some vinyl stripes installed on the car. Should I remove the BF in the spots where the stripes will go and what should I remove it with? The paint is so slick now I'm worried they won't stick. :)

Thanks,
Travis

If it were me or my car, I would first polish it off with pb pro polish then ipa, or car pro earser, then apply the stickers

You want to attach that to a very clean clear coat, so remove the BF before starting. As Ron suggested

Travis-

Welcome to AutopiaForums!!!

You should wipe the area with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol diluted to 30%) several times before applying the stripes. After a week or so (for the adhesive to dry completely), you can reapply the Wet Diamond over the stripes (assuming they are not faux carbon fiber).

If your having it done and the stipe guy knows what he is doing, he will prep the surface so the stick correctly.

Thanks all. I ended up cleaning the spots where the stripes go with dawn & water before going over it with IPA a couple times. The installer also went over it with IPA. Here's the finished product:

The stripes are matte black so is it still OK to go over them with BF WD?

Thanks,

Wow it looks GREAT. You should be ok with Wet Diamond, but it could increase the sheen somewhat... I would look at something like BLACKIFRE Crystal Seal to be completely safe (not to mention it will make wheel care a breeze).
