Injured my Lower back. Please read and inform....

glad u got better. im finally back to around 90% myself

a scissors lift is in my near future.

for those that cant afford or dont have room for a lift should maybe think of race ramps.

drive right up on it and raises the car 10-14 inches closer to you. jack n jackstands help too but raising/lowering the car will probably do just as much damage unless youre doing a complete reconditioning that will take you all day or more.

i totally agree with whoever said only back pain sufferers understand.

I too as like many deal with some sort of back pain. My issue is my L5-S1, herniated disc. i didn't understand what was going on until I went to some Dr's and hda an MRI. Dr's said to operate due to spinal stenosis. What they couldn't answer was how I was feeling a lot better than I before I had the MRI. In that time I had my regular Dr. prescribe a good anti-inflamatory (about 2 or more weeks prior to my MRI), and I had commenced working out, i.e. treadmill action and "stretching". I don't do anything that may aggravate my low back, (i.e. extreme bending or anything that causes pain). It's all down my left leg, the pain and I know that my left hamstring has been tighter than my right for years... I am not completely cured, and don't think that I will, but I have so far figured out that stress, rest and stretching/excersize along with the most important, posture are crucial. I haven't taken any meds since October and I am able to deal with the discomfort.

I have found that when wearing a weight belt (that body builders wear), helps an IMMENSE amount when doing anything in relation with the car, detailing, mechanical, etc...

In addition I have purchased a Teeter hang up. I have found some relief in the use of this item. My goal is to help relax my back so that the muscle stretch out from being constricted and tightened. I sit at a desk all day do this helps. Huge tip if you sit at a desk all day. Get a beach towel, roll it out and position it in your low back. This is not immediate, but over time, and position it EVERY TIME you sit, this has helped immensely as well.

I am thinking of jumping on one of those Racatac creeper's. This should help my knees and back when working on the lower portions of vehicles. I am tall, so anything helps

I feel your pain - messed my back up years ago cutting trees with a chainsaw. All I did was turn, step over a log, pull a limb with my left hand while holding a 13 lb saw with my right. Pain was so bad I nearly threw up. My doc prescribed pain pills, anti-inflamentory and muscle relaxers - JB was in la la land. Last year, I re-injured it and finally had a MRI, 4 discs - either bulging and or ruptured. I took it easy, started doing sit-ups, lost some weight and now it's much better.

Take care ya'll, back pain can ruin your day.

Be careful with the sit ups... Pivoting on your tail bone I understand to be a no-no.. Adds a great deal of stress on the tail bone vertebrae from my reading and understanding.

That sucks man, but I feel your pain. I picked something up in a way that I never should have and pulled something in my back, too. Luckily it happened over the holidays so I could rest so it's better now. Aside from that after 2 knee surgeries already, the menial meniscus in both of my knees have been torn again for about 2 years and I don't want them to cut me open again just to repair it again. On top of that, I recently twisted my wrist and pulled a tendon in my right, middle finger. Now my finger has been the size of a hot dog for the last 3 months and I can't fully make a fist. But what's a boy to do when he's got to work? No sick days here!
