Initial Review - Adam's VRT

wifehatescar

My L5-S1 is killing me!
Did the inside of a bland Taurus yesterday, brown interior. Decided to try VRT on the inside.

1. Packaging & Labeling. Is it well packaged? Are the labels durable?

Very nice bottles, labels and packing. I wonder how much extra $ this costs the end consumer? I really like the bottles as they are easy to hold and the small spout helps control how much comes out, similar to the Menzerna twins bottles.

2. Helpful instructions on label?

Yep, not rocket science. I used an Autopia brand MF applicator to apply though. I thought the MF applicator supplied by Adam is too large for most interior work. I like MF better than foam for interior work as it cleans better.

3. Does product do what the manufacturer claims it does?

Yep, on this bland brown interior, it left a low gloss and the product was very dry. I went over it with a dry MF to even it out and remove excess, IMO it gace a perfect look. Made everything look new without the Armor All type ghetto-shine.

4. Value. Is the product a good buy? If a liquid product, how much per ounce? Does a little go a long way?

Relatively expensive (mine was free) for 12 oz. I used about 1/2 oz for the interior. It did seem like a very quality product though, if it continues to work well I will probably buy more. I like the fact that it claims a high UV protection.
Not sure if I will use on tires, seems a bit expenive for that (I use BnB on tires) I may give it a shot though.

5. Easy to use? Hard to use? Did you read the directions and use as directed?

Easy to use, a little harder to spread than a spray type product but it was easier to get an even look without blotchiness.

6. Describe the product smell, viscosity and other physical traits if any.

This is tough...I think it smells like a lightly scented shampoo :dunno. It was hard to tell cause I smelled like GooGone and APC+ at the time :D I did quickly find out that the bees in the neighborhood liked the scent though :( It is very thick and a white color.

I have a question too..... does VRT have cleaners? It just says protectant on the bottle....

YES, VRT does have some mild cleaners into it, so it makes it the perfect tool for a maintenance dressing. Interesting about using MF for applying it; I just might have to try that myself. As for the more than large applicator, give it a whirl next time for the heck of it. You'll be surprised how "squinchy" it is (get's into small places too), and how much less product it will use, and how much less is on your hands :lol

As for the UV protection, it does have SPF 65 into it :bigups This is one of the more expensive materials we put into it, and NO, you can't just go to your local suntan store, buy a bottle of SPF and squirt that into your dressing :nono

VRT is definitely not the cheapest, but then again, it's some of the best stuff out there.....you get what you pay for...

As for the labels, packaging, and bottles, first off, I'm glad you noticed them, secondly, our price did not go up since we implemented them :)

I thought so, my MF was a bit dirty afterwords, even though I apc'ed before using VRT.

VRT definatly gives the impression of a quality product, if nothing else. Not sure exactly what that means :lol

hummmm, I'm not sure if spraying APC on the SAME pad would deter your results....I'm sure that stuff is stronger than what is in VRT (full strength).

Try it next time doing two steps, pre-cleaning then dressing (if needed) and see how it works for you then. I would be interested to hear about the results you get.

I was not clear, I did do it in 2 steps, 2 different pads. I was not exactly precise in wiping every surface with the apc.
I would never prime my pad with apc to apply VRT :D

UPDATE

Finally got to try VRT on my tires. They were in good shape since they constantly have BnB on them. I scrubbed them with a brush and car soap and dried them.

First of all, I did not like the foam circular sponge. As I suspected, it left my hands dirty after all 4 tires. I like plastic hand-hold foam tire swiped much better ($1 each at Target). VRT applied fairly easy for a thick liquid. The look is not glossy but dark, new tire-like. I -think- I like BnB more as I like some shine. I think VRT looks similar to Z-16.

From my testing so far, IMO, I'm liking VRT more for interiors (and possibly outside trim) than on tires. It is fairly low gloss. Also IMO VRT seems too pricy to use on tires. I apply dressing every week on tires but only every month or two (or three) on my interior.

YMMV :D
