I KNEW I should have looked closer at my car before leaving the restaurant... I went in to grab some food (to go) and a family of 5 came in right before I left. Well, up until that time there was no car parked next to me. Then when I went out, there was a big white Avalon parked closely next to me. A cursory look (it was raining) of where the front door might have hit showed nothing. I didn't think to look at where the back door might have hit.

This on the day that I had to shell out $2g's for tooth work (root canal and crown)

It's worse than it looks, I just don't have the light right. :(

Sorry to hear this happened. You'd be surprised at how much a *good* PDR guy can get out. Time to do some research.

Oh, I know. I've found one.

That vertical ridge there is between the driver's door and the rear 1/4 panel.

I had a ding (self-inflicted :( ) on the other side RIGHT behind that bend in the door jamb (forgot to retract the seat rail when reinstalling the seat!) and he got it out 99%. I'll be seeing him again.

I'd suggest using paintless dent repair but since the dent is in the crease of the body, PDR wll not be able to totally remove the dent.

Exactly why I park out in the boonies when possible. I constantly see people fling their doors open with no regard to other vehicles.



A good PDR guy should be able to either nearly or completely remove the ding. Too bad you have to pay for it instead of the inconsiderate clods.

thanks for the support, guys. everybody else (outside my family, who all know better) say "it's just a car!" Well... my family knows my Autopian ways all too well (and they've all benefitted from it!).



Note that I don't harbor ill will for the kids - they're kids and if their parents haven't taught them the common sense to respect other people's property... Well, the parents are f-ing morons. :)



My mom used to work upstairs from a pediatrician and insisted on parking near the front door of the building... of course, that was a hot spot. Her doors looked like someone had blasted them with a shotgun :(

Which raises the question - what would you do if you noticed the damage and was certain the car next to you had caused it?

Confront the offenders, if they're present?

I think that's the only option, unless you've got a $0 insurance deductible.



If I HAD noticed it, I would have kindly asked the folks to come out and inspect the damage, open the rear door to see how it fits perfectly with the ding and ask for $150 for PDR.



edit: one of the guys on the S2000 board said that he had a ding in the exact same spot taken out 99% by the same guy that did my door jamb ding, so at least I'm hopeful :wall
