In between detailing

96miata

I just got a miata 96 in great condition (37K miles, interior/exterior in very good shape). I never cared about my cars but this one is worth doing so for. I also know nothing about caring for cars so i have a few questions...

How often should i get it detailed (I'm in LA and park indoors). I'm thinking 1 every 4-8 weeks?

How much should I pay for a good detail?

More importantly, what do I do in between to keep it in good condition for the interior, paint and top?

Thanks

Hello ari, and welcome to Autopia. :welcome

I've moved this thread to the University because the Vendor Forums is not where it belongs and you're just starting out cold. (Besides, no one would notice it there anyway :p).

For a lot of good information even a casual enthusiast can use, there is a lot of good information found in the Learn! link at the top, as well as the Autopia Guide to Detailing, written by our Mayor. Buying this helps to run this site and it's a nice reference to have on your computer (that is more detailed than the articles). Also, a TON of archived info can be found if you're handy with search engines.

If you're not detailing your car yourself (encouraged here ;)), and having it done professionally instead, then I would pay more attention to the processes of WASHING (very, very critical), and "quick detailing". Basically, these are how you'd clean your car's paint in between detailing jobs and in between washes as well. Good luck and happy reading!
