To start I am sorry for the bad pictures...I'm sick and I was in a hurry.



This car belongs to the wife of a coworker. Didn't look that bad when I picked it up, but by the time I got the seats and stuff out I saw all the crumbs, candy and stains left behind by their 3 year old.

It's like a crazy warm 36 degress outside right now!! All the snow is melting and the roads are crap right now...so the outside will come later this year, when the roads are all cleaned up.



Process:

-Spot cleaned with 303 Aerospace Fabric/Vynl Cleaner

-Carpet cleaned with Resolve and extractor

-Dash coated with 303 Aerospace Protectant (I prefer Vynlexe, but I'm all out)





I remembered to take pictures after I started, so I already had a couple seats out.

All back together. I even cleaned up all the seat trim pieces, and brush touched the seat bolts so no one will ever know.

Like I said...The roads are crap, but I washed it for them anyway. It was pretty dirty again by the time I got the car back to them.

Now that is a detail (removing the seats). I like that. It must have been amazingly easy to clean once you pulled them out. Good job on that interior.



I usually lift the back seats up depening on the car. Some seats come out easier than others.

I love doing the interiors of Impalas...there's something about them that's just so easy! I'm usually the only one at work that removes back seats.
 
Back seats are so easy...You just grab and pull!

The Impals was hooked in the back, so you have to pivot the seat cussion up and push the back down to unhook it.



I always remove the seats if they want the carpet shampooed. Not only does it make it soo much easier to clean in there, but there is always so much stuff undernieth them that you would normaly miss.



Note about side air bags -- You can remove seats with airbags in the sides, just make sure that the key is NOT turned on while the seats are out, and it remains 15 feet away from the car if it's an electronic key. Failure to do so will cause and airbag light to come and will require re-calibration.





All I need right now is my Tax I.D. number from the state and my detailing business is official. This job is gonna get me some great word of mouth and I should be busy in no time.
 
didn't look like much of the stains came out? what did you use?



i use woolite spray and scrub it till most every stain i've come across so far lifts right out.

I spot cleaned the stains and door panels with 303 Aerospace Fabric Cleaner. I was extremely impressed with how well it worked with so little effort.

After I spot cleaned I went over all the carpet, seats, and floor mats with Resolve Industrial Carpet Cleaner and a Carpet Extractor.

If you compare the passenger side floor in the before and after pictures, the carpet came out very nice!! Except for the great big tear in the drivers floor mat they all came out nearly perfect.
 
I'm sorry, but my biggest pet peeve is when people reply without reading.



If you had read what I wrote...You wouldn't have had any questions.



I by no means think I am the best detailer...far from it. I have a lot to learn.

Just irritated when people ask questions that were already answered.
 
Even using the extractor how were you able to get it all dry in time to take it back? That's a lot of damp carpet and fabric.
 
Anyways I plan to do the very same thing to my carpet is salt crusted on the drivers side in my Monte. Sure the stains didn't completely come out but its a hell of a lot better than it was!

The extractor that I got, even though it's older than dirt, has two vacuums mounted to the tank and has enough power to hold the floor mat up off the ground. I spent a good half hour with the extractor just vacuuming. Then I went over it again with the Shop Vac...Put it all back together, then vacuumed with the shop vac one more time.



I'm not a big fan of the super-imposed lines, so I run my hand over the carpet to make it look natural.



The rear seat, and passenger front floor was a little damp, but it was just fine to be parked in the garage. It was above freezing atleast.

I picked this car up near Elk River.



Since it's a coworker, I was able to do this car at work. But to do paying customer jobs I have a garage I rent from another co-worker in Brooklyn Park. It's a good deal, it's a huge, heated, garage with tools and compressed air and he only charges me per car.
 
Big difference. Did any of the soiled areas brown back up when they dried? Looked like the carpet was pretty bad. Did you ever try toweling the areas to lift more dirt out after cleaning?
 
I agree with David that your work on the carpets is a big improvement. Carpets and stains can be a PITA for sure. To be effective you need an array of chemical cleaners for different type of stains. Here is a good post on cleaning carpets.



Completely drying the carpets as soon as possible after extracting will prevent stains from reappearing during drying. What happens is that when the carpets are allowed to dry on their own, the stains will wick back up to the surfaces as the carpets drys.



I have two of these air movers that will dry the carpets much faster. So have a look at walmart to see if they have any left in your area.
