Immediately topping sealant with wax

I notice that a lot of people on here do this, even the "pro's". I thought the sealants need additional time to cure before putting a wax over them. Are they okay as long as the wax is a pure wax and not a cleaner wax? I realize some detailers doing others cars are stretched for time and can't come back the following week, but it seems like it would be better to sell another wash and wax and to let the sealant cure properly, otherwise isn't it a wasted step?

Also, I heard with the FK1 product line you don't have to wait to top one of their sealants with one of their waxes, but instead keep any sort of cleaners off of the car for 72hrs and the whole thing will cure together. Is there any truth to this?

I think people are to "top" happy, IMO pick a sealant or a wax and be done with it.

Obviously you wouldnt wanna top any sealant with a cleaner wax at any time, that should be a no brainer.

In general, I agree ....:bolt

However, if you are going to top a sealant with a pure wax to try and achieve some particular look or effect I personally would wait 24 hours to allow the sealant to cure.

Well i didnt mean not to "top" your personal vehicles, it can be fun trying different things. But when your doing someone elses car its best to pick one or the other and be done with it.

Compatibility is a big issue. For example, with FK1 products you can top one with another within minutes. They will cure/crosslink together.
