I just got word that my younger brother just passed his final exam and is now a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force!!

Now he as 45 days training back here in MN then he leaves for Houston, TX for 10 months of navigation school training and then 2 weeks of P.O.W / survivor school. That he is not looking forward to. They dump you off in the woods naked with no supplies and you have to survive. Then they use interrogation techniques on them that other countries have used on our troops shot down in battle.

My family has a deep military history and it was my dream to serve but I was too heavy and my knees too weak. No one in my family including my brother supports the current war but he knows that he has a duty to protect our homeland and he goes to work everyday with that thought in the back of his head. Next time you see a soldier in uniform or meet a vet shake their hand and tell them thank you for dedicating your time so that you can have your time in the most genuine sense of the word FREEDOM.

Congrats to your brother!

Every time I see a soldier, usually at an airport, I buy them a drink or two and swap a few stories. The wife and I killed a couple of hours last June at an Atlanta airport bar buying brews for a young soldier. You get a much better appreciation for what they are doing and what their views are than you'll ever pick up in the media.

Congrats to you, your brother and your family WHB. I dont agree with the war but we all should do our best to support our troops wherever they maybe and our respect to anyone that has served.
