im looking for advice on clutch pedal disassembly ..

i need to disassemble the brake and clutch pedal to get rust off of em, pretty much all of the disassembly is easy, but i got one question : what happens when the brake and clutch lever is fully released.....i mean once you take out the cutter pin from the shaft roll pin ? the clutch rod will then fully extend out, and i fear it might be hard to put it back in once fully released. not sure but i think i need to release couple studs/nuts on the clutch master cylinder prior to fully disengage it ?................im no mechanic yet i know i can easily do it if i got the know how..................sorry if this is a bit off topic though, i couldnt help asking.
