I'm going to brag on a fellow Autopian

Well Scott, those pics you posted didn't show much. The 'before' just looked like water beading.

Then I actually went to the MOL link. Holy ****! We have this exact car, but in a 1946 model. Same body, but four doors, and it's the Plymouth version.

My Mom wouldn't stop saying "Wow, w- WOW! Holy sh- WOW!". I guess my Makita and I have a job to do when I get home from PA.

So do you think the job would have been easier if they started with a glaze like #7 or #3 to get it to be a bit more lubricated before they started on it with the oxidation remover?

Maybe. It's easy to second guess somebody else's situation and I don't want to say *anything* even remotely critical about that job ;)

Mike Phillips suggested the "pretreat with a pure polish" approach when I asked him about some very neglected ss lacquer on a '75 Jag (just sold it this year :) ). This is more for a job where you can do part of it one day and come back the next to start really working the paint.

I pretreated the Jag with #7 and it did seem to help make the oxidation removal go well the next day. So yeah, I'd pretreat with #7 (by hand/PC) or #3 (probably by rotary, or else by hand/PC also). But only if I had the time to let the polish soak in overnight and only on really neglected single stage.

Gad zukes!!!!! hard for that not to put a smile on your face. I'm not a big fan of car shows or oldies at all but I went to the *historics* at Limerock last Labor Day and it was great. That's of cars I had never seen before and I've been around a long time.

PS. I'm going back this year too.

There are only a few on here and there that I'll stop and look at what they have to say regardless what the title says and Joe Fernandez, aka Superior Shine's one of them. It's amazing what some of you guys can do with the tools we all have. Joe's posts are full of How To's, well written and to the point. He's not trying to push/sell you on a product. I said it there and I will say it again Joe aka Superior Shine makes Me want to become a better detailer.

Scott if you get a chance ask Joe when is he going to detail a train...it's the only thing he has to accomplish before he can say "He did it all". ROTFLMAO:D

It has been said already: What an Amazing Make Over.

WOW, Thanks Scott for posting this nice suprise. I only read the pro forum here on Autopia but a friend told me about this thread.

Also, thanks all for the kind words.

I have a 57 chevy truck in about the same condition that I will polish Weds.

Joe-work like that deserves all the attention it can get. I also posted it on offtopic.com so for a while, meguiarsonline had 50-75 guests on it for more than an hour. :)
