If you HAD to choose only ONE polisher...

I think at this point in the game with the kevin brown method most people are going back to their Porter Cable or even a Flex. In my case I couldn't justify buying two machines, so I stuck with the 7424XP and won't be look back anytime soon. It takes serious defects with this method for me to think I missed out not getting a rotary, and even a second pass over can finish almost LSP ready with M105.

Makita here also.

Well, reality is, most pros already have a small arsenal of machines.

What machine he gravitates towards is part preference and the types

of work he does often. My theory anyway...

I could also rephrase the question to: Which polisher has the broadest range?

And the answer, for me, would still be the same.

Well, I think the word should me *some* and not *most*.

Id be happy with my G110.

Bryan in Atlanta does top notch detail work and all he uses is a PC w/KBM. As for rotaries or flex - he's been there-done that. Moral to this story is this - it ain't the machine, it's the man and the technique.

Noting (for the umpteenth time :o ) all the different polishers I have on the shelf, I'd go with the Flex 3401 hands-down.

hows the vibration on that compair to a PC? I had to stop using my PC because my hands would go numb for a long time when I was done.

Very true, but I still can't see myself ever doing work nearly as fast and as well with a PC as I do with a rotary.

That said, rotary/Makita 9227 for me.

Why isn't this a poll btw? So we can count it together with the other 50 polls on the subject and make a final answer haha

lol. It isn't necessary, just skimming through will tell you which machine is preferred.

You can see who is with the "program" and who is not. Maybe i could have

started this with something even more silly...

What if some diabolical mastermind trapped in you in a warehouse with

20 high-end cars - say all E500's - that's been resprayed terribly and you

have to sand/polish them all to "perfection" in under 2 weeks. Or the entire

place blows up. All the materials/supplies are provided. And the only way out

is to buff your way out. Only one machine is allowed, which would you choose?

I have a Metabo (came from a Makita 9227), but would say to get the Makita. The metabo feels nicer and I believe I can finish better with it, but hands down reliability, value and overall results will go to the Makita. The Metabo gets uncomfortably warm for amateur use . . . I wouldn't use it as a daily for the professional.
