If I move...

Currently, I have place with a garage. If I move, I will potentially have to park outdoors... How bad is it for your car to just let natures elements take its course on it? What if I detail it every week?

Nature itself is not a culprit (at least, 'regular' nature.) It's the UN-natural stuff that comes with it - acid rain and other 'man-made' additives to your daily environment - rail dust if you're anywhere near a railroad, other grit and grime in the air, etc.

Acid rain and bird droppings are the worst enemies of your car's finish. They should be dealt with as soon as possible. Normal, everyday sun shouldn't do too much damage, unless you live in a climate like Arizona or someplace similar where the intensity of the almost constant sunlight (at least during the day..lol) can fade certain paints over time, if they are not protected.

I've almost never (since 1975) had the luxury of a garage, and with regular cleaning, have not had major problems.

I'd consider birds part of 'reguar' nature and they are some of the most dangerous sources of contamination. Like the others have said, watch out for bird droppings.

I'm on the other side of this fence- I chose my current home in part because I could build a proper detailing garage; sold the previous one in large part because I couldn't keep all the cars garaged.

Sunlight/UV radiation wreaks havoc on cars, given enough time- I've watched it happen here in Ohio where it's not all that bad. Between that and birds, snowfall, hail, and even just dew in the morning, I'd make the garage a priority.

Before I had a garage, parking outside made it impossible for me to keep my car the way I wanted it. Nice, but not nice enough. My poor Jag still shows the signs of what outdoor parking can do to a nice car :( and I kept up with its detailing as well as I can imagine anybody doing.
