Idiots guide to Menzerna and a PC?

Hi Guys....I'm so :confused:



First offf...I have read this forum for some time...and the more i read it...the more confusing some of it gets.



I'm in Scotland...so a lot of the acronyms you have Stateside can be a but confusing and also soem ofthe products you use. I have worked in the USA so I'm not tottaly ignorant of some of the differences we have between us :)



I have a PC 7424 on the way with a Sonus pad kit...off of ebay.



I bought a Menzerna Polish pack from cleanandshiny.co.uk and it includes:



1 Litre of PO85RD 3.02 (Is this Super Intensive Polish?)

1 Litre of PO85RD (What's the name given to this?)

1 Litre of PO106FA (What's the name given to this?)



Is the PO106FA the least abrasive?



Does anyone of a guide or some tips for using this product on a Black II(Jet Black) BMW Mini Cooper S?



I'm well used to using hand tools in my own trade...and the PC doesn't phase me or scare me....but a wee pointer in the direction of removing swirl marks would be good with these specific products and tools on my specific cars clear coat.



I don't expect a detailed guide...just some tips and pointers

Not sure about the first two polishes, but the 106 will finish down the best, but also has almost as much cut as the first two, so you may want to try that first.



As far as process, unless your car is really bad, use a polishing pad and the 106. If that doesn't work, move up to a cutting pad.



I'm not too experienced yet with Menzerna, but as a starting point, put a couple lines about two inches long on the pad and dab it in a few spots on the paint (about a 2 foot square section). Turn the machine on to setting 3 and make one pass on the entire area to get the polish spread. Then turn it on to the top speed 6, go slow (about 2-3 inches per second) and polish the area several times (like first up and down once, then side to side, then up and down, etc). I would try doing 3-4 passes (u/d, then s/s, then u/d, then s/s again) using moderate pressure (push down on a scale to about 10-15 pounds for an idea). Then do like two more with little to no pressure a bit faster. From there you can experiment with how many passes you need to make, speed, etc. based on the paint of your car.



I'm sure more experienced users will chime in as well.
 
I hope this gives you a little bit more direction in the use of your products.

Thanks to the Grimm and Kaval for your excellent posts! This is exactly what i need to get started with.



Kaval, I came across this chart earlier...but my polish code numbers are not present on this chart. I assume that maybe the chart has old code numbers on it...so I'm wondering if a current chart is available?



I may contact Menzerna about this..unless someone chimes in here.

I think the 106FA is the new and improved 106FF. Not in the states yet. Lucky guy. Do report on results.



PO85RD has less cut but same gloss as 106FF. PO85RD 3.01 has most cut and least gloss.

I'd start with the 106 and if that isn't enough cut go to 3.01 followed by 85RD. Don't need to follow 106. Same gloss as 85.
