I was bored today so I did a Sealant Test.

Well the test was conducted on a bathroom mirror on the wall and it was cleaned with the Griots Foamed cleaner which I reallly like (very few Griots products that I like). I tested the Griots 1 Step Sealant vs. Meg's Ultimate Wax (Hydrophobic Wax) vs. Nanoskin Hydophobic Wax a few days ago on video...The Griots came in last in that test.

So I decided that it should do alot better if the surface was totally vertical so I went and did this test...Man Im bored today.

Left Side...Griots Sealant (applied for 1 hour and wiped off)

Middle area....no sealant

Ridght Side...Nano Skin Express Hyper Sealant (appllied for 1 minute and wiped off)

When I spray water on the mirror, the water automatically started to run off the nanoskin express side down the mirror.

The Griots Sealant and the middle where there was no sealant did basically the same thing...some little water ran off but nothing special.

The pic I took was 45 minutes after the test and you can see which was the clear winner.

I just looked at the mirror after 1 hour of the test and there is still water (About 50%) on the Griots side and the middle with no sealant.

No water left of the Nanoskin Express side...Well I knew that about 20 minutes when I took the pic.

Well Griots Sealant is going back to returned today because its a poor performer.

Interesting. But I don't know if you can really judge it by how well it sticks to a mirror. Car sealants are made to stick onto clear coat and painted finishes, mirrors are a lot more slick than paint is. But I guess if it can stick good to a mirror it can stick good to anything...

I guess its a Sealant bonding review also...if it can bond to a mirror that should say something about that product...The Griots got its butt spanked and got returned to Griots today. Griots like to protray themselves as a "Boutique Product" but after trying a few of their liquid products I think they are bottom shelf products like Turtlewax and nothing special at all.

Interesting test.

Gritos' 1 Step Paint Sealant does a lot of correction for an all-in-one product and is one of the more powerful AIO style sealants out there, in my experience. I would say that my experience with Griot's is the opposite of yours, I find a lot of their products do a very nice job. That is what makes detailing great!

That said, Nanoskin looks like it did a great job, I have been playing with their line and have been impressed so far.

Interesting test.

I guess I personally would never expect an AIO type sealant (Correction / Sealant) to every as good or durable as a dedicated sealant.

i think you should write a letter to griots & express your displeasure with theyre products & how they perform on glass.? now you want to return the bottle? lol. let us know how that works out.
user error?

Actually I took video of a seperate test between the Griots Sealant and another brand of nuba wax. The Griots did not perform well at all in that test either. I also took video of this test and was kinda surprised of the results since it was vertical. I just drove down to the Griots store and showed them the videos and handed them the reciept and returned it. I have learned my lesson with Griots...Flashy showroom...sweet cars in the little museum and some nice eye candy (Females) employees to help drive up sales. Im just impressed with the Griots products expect for my GG 6" DA which I love.

I did that test already and the Griots Sealant failed.
no offense but i think you need to reconsider how you do your tests. if i recall, you tested three dissimilar products, on the hood of a vehicle that needed a repaint, and did the test by hand only with a up and down motion. i've used griot's one step sealant many times, applied by gg da 6" and griot's orange pads with excellent results. the one step has excellent cut for some correction and always left a decent shine. as always, it's a matter of personal preference, but do look at your testing methods and conditions. thanks !

From my understanding the Griots 1 step sealant is thier sealant mixed with thier machine polish3. So to be fair add some type of light polish to the other 2 products or test against other AIO products. IME it does leave a nice slick finish for an AIO.

I will not use Griots liquid products ever again. I really think they are sub-par. I'd even be willing to go into their location for a head to head comparison and video tape it there.

And that is your choice not to use certain products but i really do not believe this prodrut deserves the blasting you are giving it. Plus in your test you compared two different type of products. It would be like comparing Souveran paste wax to XMT 360 then saying that the Souveran is crap cause it did not remove any defects.

yes it is my right..I tested it and it did very bad. I gave it every chance to do well but it didnt. Its marketed as a Sealant...so whats a "Sealant supposed to do"? Well I would say...repel, water so some point, make it more slicker so contaminates from not sticking to the clearcoat or paint and even giving it some extra protection. Well the Griots Sealant did none of that.

The Sealant or the 1 step sealant? Keep in mind this 1 product is trying to do 3 different jobs at same time so best that should be expected is doing all 3 just ok. Not great but just ok. Any product that is asked to do more than 1 job is not gonna fair good against a product that only does 1 job. Can i ask what APC's have you used and what did you use them on?

Whether it's intended for use on glass, I'm still intrigued but the results and especially the Nanoskin were amazing..... :bigups
