Well after asking some opinions and getting many comments i have concluded in doing this method and using these products. What you think..?

1. Wash with GC...blot dry with a Royal Velvet towel.

2. Clay (clay magic) with Meg's QD, wipe off with RV towels.

3. Meg's #9, apply with meg's foam applicators, buff out with Ranney's MF towels

4. Meg's #7 (same application and removal method)

5. S100 wax (same application and removal method)

6. Rewax within 24-48 hours.

Here is my dilema..None of my local Autozones carry Clay magic, or should i say have it in stock. How much does Autozone usually sell this for? I found the Meg's yellow clay bar (2 bars in 1 Black meg's jar) locally, but i really have heard good comments/reviews on Clay magic, and being its my first time claying, i'd like to use it.

any comments or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing that Autozone is not the only parts store in Idaho. ;)

Try NAPA if you have one locally. The 3M clay is excellent.

If you run across Mothers or Eagle One they're great too.

That's a great routine, pretty much exatly what I do.

Are you using a cutting pad or a polishing pad for the Meg's #9?

If that doesn't remove the swirls, give DACP with a cutting pad a try. That will definitely do the trick.

Good luck, and POST PICS! Before and After, please!

I found that some Walmarts sell Clay Magic. A friend of mine picked up some for me. About $9 I think. Good deal. :xyxthumbs

I have not used it yet. I have a good supply of Griots clay that I am using and like it alot. Going to do a car this weekend and I think I will try the CM. I'll post my results.

Also, there is a good thread on 'Cleaning with Clay'. Check it out. It has some good procedures and tricks.

jcattarulla....

I'll be using a Meguiars foam application pad...all these procedures will be done by hand.

I've checked Autozone, Checkers, and Walmart for CM, none carry this clay bar. Im still looking. I'll try to post pics. as soon as i do this process, FIRST im going to put my Body Kit back on, as this is the one that i'm going to detail, along with the rest of the car. Also my new set of wheels come in about 2 weeks.

I use the 3M clay from NAPA. Works great.

Also, Mother's clay is excellent too. I used it on a 1996 honda this weekend that had never been waxed or polished. Handled the job beautifully. Cost was $15 a Pep Boys.

By hand is going to be brutal. Scottwax does everything by hand, and his work is phenomenal. Be prepared though to be extremely sore!

If you can, I'd recommend hooking up with a local Autopian and using a PC and the appropriate PC pads.

Good luck:xyxthumbs

Totally true!!

I actually don't mind doing it by hand. Sure a PC is going to be faster but there is no feeling like doing a good job by hand sometimes. You wont feel sore after doing it a few times. It even makes beer taste better.

LOL...the sacrifices one makes for their cars. The "sore" part of the procedure is all good, as a beginer i'll have to pay my dues.

So any more comments on the products i'm going to use..?

We are still talking bout cars ?

Right ?

Go ahead and flame me if this response should be posted in a separate thread, but why do you need to wait 1-2 days to apply the second coat of S100? Is that the recommended curing time between coats? Also, if you've driven the car during that 1-2 wait period, do you QD before applying the second coat?

Feeeeel the burn...

lol j/k man...

You should always wash your car before you do anything to the surface. Never add any new products to your car unless the surface is clean first. Don't use a CCD and then wax. I wouldn't even QD it, personally. I always wash it first so it is as clean as possible. Detailing takes time to do right and I'm not about to cut corners. I don't know that S100 requires a 'cure' time like Klasse does, but that doesn't mean waiting is a bad thing. If you do wait a day or two between coats then always wash it first so you aren't waxing crap into your car and swirliling it up with the dust particles that get in the pad and wax.

I don't know if S100 necessarily requires a cure time either, but I do know that it tends to look even better the next day. Also, any minor hazing or streaking that you might have will go away the next day. To me this suggests that some of the solvents are evaporating (I guess that's the right word), so perhaps the wait will be beneficial.

Just a thought.
