I think Gold Class is stripping the almighty Zaino

I Z'd (always zfx'd) my car in late april (z2,z5,z2) and in mid july (z2, z5). I use z6 after weekly washes. I noticed a significant reduction of beading over time on the entire vehicle (especially the hood & lower panels) so I z'd again (z5 x 2) last night. Based on what I've read here Z should last longer than it did, especially after the multiple applications. I have a hunch that my car wash soaps could be the problem but I'm not sure yet.

My method...

Water rinse

Rinse (no pressure jet) using Lowes $10 sprayer filled with Turtle Wax Class of Gold

Wash using Gold Class S/C (sometimes more concentrated than 1oz/gal)

Water rinse

Dry

z6

I thought that both of these soaps were fairly gentle even at slightly higher concentrations? Is this how long I should expect Z to last? Thanks guys.

Gold Class by meguiars is a really harsh soap if that's the gold class that you are referring to. I think the best soap out there with the mildest formula for Zaino is Z7.

GC is not harsh and will not remove a wax or sealant. Ive never had trouble with any of meguiars's soaps removing an LSP.

Using more than the recommended soap, however, could very well reduce the life of an LSP.

I have always had terrible luck using it on pretty much any sealant as I wash almost weekly. Usually my max wax durability for example will go from a month and a half with griots car wash soap to like 3 weeks with gold class if I'm lucky.

I have been using Gold Class for years on a large assortment of vehicles and it has never reduced the life of any wax or sealant for me. I'd seriously suggest you may have something else going on.

I Haven't had that many problems with GC. I think it is a very good wash. I do however experience what you are talking about with the lak of beading right after I wash. The paint still feels smooth like their is zaino on there and it still looks awsome but the beading does lack right after a wash. Its crazy though because if it rains 2 days or I wash a week later later it beads up like a mother. This however doesn't happen the few times I have washed with z-6.

Ive found that the soap can weaken LSPs. The weaker LSPs (wont name names to start a product war) the faster the beading is lost when using GC.

:nixweiss I'll name it. NXT. Gold Class wash seems to hate it or something.

Not at all what I was thinking. I only used NXT a few times before giving it away to another forum member. I am curious to try the v2.0 but Im not going to throw money at it as I have been WAY WAY to disappointed with other Megs products. I will stick to Zaino, Wolfgang and JWs for LSPs for now.

I have never really like GC neither. I have never tried it on Zaino, but I would suggest z7 wash or if you want extra durability and something that will clean and strengthen zaino with the cross linking, I highly recomend FK1 1016 wash and wax. It has no wax, but is a amino funtional polymer that bonds to zaino very well and will not have any issues at all. I highly recomend it!

The variance in results may have to do with the water quality. I believe megs retail soap products contain chemical water softeners. This is totally a hypothesis but the "harshness" may have something to do with the water itself and not the product.

3+ months isn't too bad. It really just depends on environmental factors, etc.

If you feel like the soap or your routine might be a problem, try a different soap or routine to see if your results change.
