I spent the day with 'the other woman'...

Poorboys Rules!
It's been a long winter but my truck is finally ready for spring. I put the 20's back on last week or so and then I took the day off today to spend all day 'detailing' her exterior. The interior will get a workover soon although it's really not too bad.

Basically here's what she got:

claybar over entire car
Poorboys SSR1 over entire car
Poorboys 'Black Hole' (amazing new product)
Natty's 'red' paste wax (2 coats)
Poorboys 'Bold N Bright' on the tires (provides a nice 'satin' finish)
Stoners 'Invisible Glass

It's supposed to rain tomorrow and the fact that I spent 8+ hours pretty much seals the deal, but as long as it doesn't hail, I'm good.

The pics aren't the best, I was running out of time. I'll try to get out soon and get some more closeups of the 'shine' that the Poorboys provided! The Poorboys makes this baby look like she's dripping wet! And the finish...smooth as a baby's butt!

I've still got a lot to learn about this PC, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. She looks great in the sunlight...we'll see how she looks when I pull her back in the garage tonight under the 'fluorescent' lights.

I applied it 'after' my SSR1. Then I put the Natty's red on top of it. I thought the finish looked really nice after the SSR1...but as soon as I applied the black hole...I was amazed! It's surprising that it added that much more to it! Steve's got a winner there!!

Whoops...I spoke too soon. I pulled her in the garage tonight and it looks kinda 'hazy' in some spots...almost like I didn't get the wax completely wiped off. Except that when I rub on it, the haziness is not going away.

It looked good as I worked it all in the sun. And after I applied the Black Hole I thought it looked great too. It was after I applied the Natty's red and was all done that I caught a glimpse of what I thought was a haze in a few spots, but I rubbed on it and thought I got rid of it. But after seeing it under the fluorescent lights...it's hazy all over the hood so I'm sure it's all over the sides as well.

I'll take a better look in the morning as I'm frustrated now. All of my day may have been a bust. Oh well, that's how it goes when you're a newbie I guess. Live and learn. By the time I figure it out, I'll have to have the truck re-cleared.:lmfao

I'm off to shower and hit the hay...I'm frustrated, tired and I've gotta go to hell tomorrow...oh, um, I mean work.

Nope...tried the QD last night before I went to bed. Actually, I went and tried QD again this morning hoping that maybe by some miracle it had corrected itself overnight. I guess the detailing xxxxx forgot to stop by last night.

Looks like I must've not gotten the first coat of wax wiped off well enough before I applied the second coat.

Or maybe I didn't get the 'black hole' wiped off well enough, but I really didn't notice anything until after the second coat of wax was applied. Looks like I'll be redoing it this weekend.:wall
 
Is it possible that it's some hazing from the pad when you used the SSR1? I now that sounds absurd, but it looks like that was the only polishing step you did. What you are describing sounds like when you polish to remove marring and wind up with micromarring that needs to be removed by a finer polish/pad combo. I wouldn't expect it with SSR1, but it's possible - what pad did you use with it?

Also, could it be micromarring from the clay?

Sorry to hear of your hazing and frustration. The pictures sure look good! I hope you don't have to totally redo it.
