i got the meguiars show car glaze, the peach bottle. im wondering if we have to use it with a buffer ??? i really just got a new black 07 civic. i've only been giving it regular car washes. i really want to learn how to make it look like the cars on autopia. it's starting to get swirl scratchs since i've always been too busy to look after it. but i got a lot for detailing cars. i got nxt liquid wax, nxt car wash soap, mother's clay, meguiars polish, eagles liquid nano wax, armor all foam tire spray can, MF towel. i got a few for free so that's why i got 2 polish/ 2 waxs. im wondering how i should use them in order. i don't have any PC but i got a few application pads from meguiars. i really want to learn how to make the black shine out looking all wet! please any help ? im also wondering why it takes people the whole day to finish a car? i mean... i heard of curing... not sure what that is or means.... im pretty new to this stuff.... it interests me a lot so please... thanks much! oh and what's difference between abbraisive and non abbrasive ??

I may not be the most qualified to answer broad questions such as this as I've only had the autopia itch for about a year. I think one of the most valuable tips I can offer is "the seach feature can be your friend." All of your questions have been addressed previously ad nauseum. It would probably be a more useful and efficient to read as much as possible through searching for specific topics. There is an overwhelming wealth of knowledge here throughout the forum.

Good luck with your new car. From my experience I’ve found that NBP (I have a ‘06 Si in NBP) can be a handful on a daily basis but very rewarding. I’m sure in to time you will be completely addicted to detailing with more products than you can shake a stick at like many individuals here.

Honda paint is super-soft - how carefully you wash and the quality of towels you use is very important. I'd wash it with NXT, clay with Mother's and wax with NXT liquid. You are probably not going to get a perfect finish without abrasive polishing, at least in the long run.

#7 can be used by hand or machine.

A good place to start is by clicking on the button at the top of the page that says learn!

The products you have now won’t be enough. As you read the tutorials and some threads you’ll get an idea of what other things you’ll need.

Because it’s a lot of work.

As we all are at some point. Luckily, you’ve found the right place to learn. Read a bunch, ask questions and enjoy the ride.

Paint defects like swirls and scratches are really holes or valleys in the paint. You can’t “remove a hole because there’s nothing there. It’s a place where something that was supposed to be there has been removed.

So “removing a scratch is a actually a process of removing paint around the scratch, leveling it out until the whole surface of the paint is the same thickness as the lowest point in the scratch.

To remove surrounding paint and level the surface you use products that contain tiny cutting particles, the abrasives. As you rub them on the finish they cut away at the paint.

Swirls are very shallow so you can remove them without removing too much paint. Some severe scratches are too deep to remove.

PC.
