I need a car...

I cant pick a car out for myself. I need to get a new car as a second car to drive to the train and misc trips when I am home alone.

I want to lease and I dont want to spend more than $500 a month.

I was thinking about:

Audi A3 3.2 s-line

BMW 328Xi

Mercedes R350 - $519 per month. over, but not far.

Infiniti G35x

Grand Cherokee Limited

Anyone have any suggestions? I am over scrutinizing the purchase for some reason and cant pull the trigger.

LOL umm ok.... If you only need a little drive car to get from point A to point B why on earth would you even consider the likes of Audi's, Beamers, Benz and such? Get an aveo neon or some other stupid little car that is easy on the pocket books. No sense in wasting money on a simple A to B car. You can get something like a Focus on lease for $120/month.

This thread is lame. If I had $500 a month to spend on a car I sure as hell wouldn't have a problem knowing what I want.

I certainly would not want a nice car to sit for more than 8 hours unattended in a train station parking lot. I think a Hyundai Sonata would be a good compromise. Good looks, decent mileage, easy on the pocketbook, roomy and comfortable enough for short or long trips, and it's less likely to be broken into than some of the choices you listed.

Plus, IIRC your previous car was a Saab and IMO, the Sonata is a step up from any crap that Saab makes. We still have an '05 9-5 Aero in the family and the fit and finish of the car doesn't even compare to my beat up Elantra. My wife's family and ex-husband were long time Saab loyalists, to the point where some of them became involved with selling Saabs. They would constantly debate and make fun of the Hyundai but they've all shut up now, especially since the ex-husband now owns a Hyundai Elantra too LOL. None of them are selling Saabs now.

Which is.....???????

I ended up getting a 08 Grand Cherokee Limited in black. I went to get an Audi A3, no value on a lease. A A3 3.2 sportline leases for $550 per month with a $39k sticker.

The Jeep has the same sticker as the A3, but leases for $175 LESS per month given the same terms. Lifetime warranty, will really come in handy in the 27 months I have the car, not.

BLACKELANTRA - you do remember correctly, I had an 06 9-3 for a few months. Its is a smart idea to park a junk at the train station, luckily crime isn't an issue where Ill be parking. But I may be using this on the occasional Saturday and Sunday, I may drive it into mid-town to take clients out after work, I need something a little more refined. The Jeep isnt flashy, yet it isnt low-end, its a good comprimise.

Well none of the cars you listed are on the top 10 Safety list...Why not go for an Acura RL...Volvo S80?

Actually, IIRC the G35 was named one of the safest cars on the road right now. :D I read that somewhere recently...

I vote for the Infiniti...it will be one of the most reliable cars on your list and fun to drive. Although, I'm really against fleasing, and you really should consider buying...

I loved the G35x, fast, looks great, interior is top notch, the Navigation and laser cruise were unreal. When you put the car in reverse, it draws lines on the screen to show you where you are headed, the lines move and you move the steering wheel.

The bad news was it was $610 per month over 36 months with 1st, security, and bank fee up front. Seemed high for a $38k car, but worth it.

I'd recommend that car to anyone out of the cars I drove.

Jeep Grand Cherokee, eh? Well, all that getting from point A to B is going to be expensive ;)

Which, if you're willing to spend the money, is okay for you I suppose. But since it seemed like you were trying to budget $500 monthly, it will be quite a bit more depending on how far A is from B for you.

A to B is 2 miles daily, the gas wont be a major expense.

$500 was the budget for the lease payment only. The Jeep should be fine, its only for 27 months and I can put it on swapalease or leasetrader at any time if I don't like it.

If that is what your income allows, then I say go for it. However, I don't even really think that a vehicle's driving dynamics/fuel mileage/etc. even matter when you are talking about a 2 mile drive.

Well, a two mile one-way commute means the engine never gets to fully warm up... which means its not as simple anymore! :)

I saw it in a 4 dr. Its over $600. The G35x was a close competitor, if not better.

But the infiniti doesn't have a twin turbo under the hood. If you like the g35x then why not check out the new altima? Then with the extra money you could throw some D's on it.

G35 is nice, I have one.

I'd choose the BMW. A bit more refined and a bit better in the twisties when you please.
