yeah it was raining during the detail and she is selling the car this week, so it wasnt really necessary, but if someone were to really pay me what its worth, then they would get the full amenities, wheel wells included

i can understand the reasoning for not doing the wells.. but it is an incomplete job nonetheless in my opinion. i wouldn't put my name on something where there is an obvious oversight. but that is just me. as far as the paint is concerned, much improved and good work on the parts of the car you tackled.

I agree. Even if you just sprayed some cheap tire foam in there, it'd look better than it does now. None the less, you did nice work on the paint!

I can see where you guys are coming from, next time I just might have to take that mental into consideration and do it! Thanks for the compliments

anyway you guys can see how I might be able to speed up my process....obviously I would have loved to hit the entire car with another shot of IP for more correction, but I had spent 6 full hours on it to get it to this point. I know I could do more with more time, but is there a trick of the trade to speed things up?

wash/clay took about 45 min

picture time was about 15 minutes total

IP time was about 2 hours

FPII was about 1.5 hours

lunch was 10 minutes

trim dressing about 15 minutes

headlight polishing was about 15 minutes

wax from on to off about 45 minutes

clean up was about 5 minutes

The guy has done a great job of the paint and all you lot do is pick holes with his wheel wells, - GET A LIFE some people drive their cars on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't say anything nice then say F**k all

give people credit where due!!!!!!!! or go and polish your sump plug!!

Rant over!

very nice...

quick question though - doesnt Megs nxt wax have some clearens in in, thus stripping some of the syntetic stuff underneath ? That's why I dormally use natty's paste wax.

***. Your reply makes no sense. He is getting a ton of credit for the paint, but in all reality, the detail is not done. If you justify leaving the car uncleaned because people actually drive it, then if I use your logic I should stop removing bugs from the windshield? Hell, let's keep going. Why wash it, it'll just get dirty again.

Horrible...

Ok. Now that I got that out of my system...

Toyotaguy,

The paint looks awesome. It's a 10,000x improvement. I do have to agree with everyone here about finishing the work, but it looks like you got that already, so i'll let it go.

As far as your time frame, there comes a time when you need to decide what percent perfection is worth it. If you would have cut the polishing time in half (~45minutes w/ each product), what would the car have looked like? Would you have gotten 75% of the results? Would the customer have loved it that way? Probably. If the customer let the car get that way in the first place, she would have loved it even if it had a few swirls left in the paint. On my own cars, perfection is the goal. On customers cars, especially the obviously neglected cars, the goal changes to maximum impact. In all honesty, your average customer won't recognize the difference between 4 hours and 2 hours of polishing, as long as you make the car look 100% better than it did before.

However, they will always notice the dirty wheel wells... :nana:

NXT doesn't have any cleaners. It's a synthetic wax, but not a cleaner wax. Try it. You'll love it, especially the paste.

Natty's rocks though...

While not a cleaner wax in the sense that it will remove swirls and oxidation, NXT does contain very mild cleaners that are strong enough to compromise an LSP underneath. It's not a cleaner wax, but probably not a good choice for a topper over another LSP.

However, to answer slick7's question, there really wasn't anything synthetic on the paint that the NXT would have affected; Menzerna Intensive Polish and Final Polish (IP and FPII) are both abrasive polishes that are meant to remove swirls and marring. Neither one leaves anything behind in terms of protection, so really, NXT was being applied to paint that's almost as bare as you can get it.
