I Just Found Another Must Have Item

I like that, I wonder if those foam pads can sit out farther to reach deeper into the socket...

nice find, seems like it could be a helpfull tool, at its only 6$
The ad states that the foam piece is 2 inches deep that should cover any lug nut. :)
Next week I will be going to Kokomo and they have a HF store I plan on checking it out just may buy one.:yay

I like the foam one because it doesn't look as abrassive, the bristle one looks like it would scratch everything...

I got a artist paint brush to reach into the sockets for this reason...at the artist store they have a huge selection of them....the one that I got was really long boars hair so it lasts, and can reach way into the area in question

The only thing that I think about this wheel tool is its a short term item, unless you can buy a few dozen foam replacements

I use several paint brushes for various jobs, but the lug nut brush, bristle or foam, seems much easier.
Note: I do tape the metal sleeve of the paint brushes so if I do hit a painted surface with it, no damage is done.

I use this one, easily available at most auto parts stores and not expensive. The nylon bristles do an excellent job in that area.

I used the bristle one for a bit. Problem is the wheels on my car have a plastic center cap. It did not take long for the brush to start removing the paint.

Yes I have one of those also but it will not go down into the cavity in my wheel and I'm not sure the other one will either but I want to look at it and see if I think it will work.
Did you ever get one?
How do you like it?

It has not been a problem for me, but it evidently can be. Check out vcallaway's post below.

That's the one I have.

Ouch!. That would tend to make me a less than happy camper.
I haven't noticed the problem, but since my wheels are either clear coated or powder coated, I'm not likely to see any damage until it is too late. Maybe I'll check into the one from Harbor Freight. Their $7 shipping makes it a little expensive, but considering the Harbor Freight store is over 30 miles round trip, it's still probably cheaper than going to the store.
Definitely a bargain compared to messing up a wheel. :)

Charles I have the same problem I don't want to pay shipping just for that tool that would make it about 15 bucks.
My nearest HF is in Kokomo and it is 35 miles but we go their about every 4 to 6 weeks shopping so next time we go I'm going to check to see if the local store has one.
It is a small store and a lot of items that are on the web for mail order is not in stock at that store but we shall see.

There is avery good chance I will be close to the HF store in my area this next week. I did call the store with the item number and they do have them in stock. By this time next week, I will probably have at least one. :D

Bart:
Have you used the lug nut tool yet?
I didn't get to HF yet, but I may be in that area today.
Is it worth driving 10 miles for?

Charles I have not actually used it yet but I did try it for fit on my Corvette.

The wheel on it has a deep recess for the lug nut and the tool don't fit all that well the plastic piece is a little too large.

Maybe it will work better on one of my other vehicles but for the vette it is NOT what I was hoping it would be.

I think you have one of those Lug nut brushes it is probably a better option.

When I have had a chance to use it on one of my other vehicles I will post the results here.

Thanks.
Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you, but glad to hear it before I drive to the store to buy something I can't/won't use.
The brush works good on the GP wheels and the Montana has wheels from a 2004 GP on it and it works good for them as well.
I have never felt any real concern about it doing any damage so I guess I'll stick with it.
