I HIGHLY Recommend RainX for Winter

We just got our first snow here on Long Island. Last week I waxed my car and applied RainX to the windshield. Today, there was ice on all windows except windshield, and the wiper just took the snow off of the windshield like it was nothing. The wiper on the rear window just slid over the iced up window, and I had to scrape it. Tomorrow I will RainX the rest of the glass. I highly recommend this for the winter. It makes ice non-existent on windows and makes snow removal a breeze.

I like using VM or AIO. Same effect and they last longer.

I use RainX on the front windshield but usually VM on all of the others because I heard VM and others may cause streaking with wipers, especially at night. Does anyone notice any problems with VM (or AIO) and wipers at night?

I get much less wiper chatter with AIO or VM than I ever did with RainX. No streaking either. In fact, the only time I need my wipers is at low speeds. Quikshine is also real good on glass and I hear Z6 is too.

I have AIO and Z2 on my windshield right now (applied last week) I wanna see how that works

I've tried that as well. It worked really well for the first couple of weeks, then I would get some funky smearing. With every swipe, an area shows up where the water seems to stick to it instead of being whisked away, then the area would just get larger and larger. I have PIAA Silicon wipers, so maybe that makes a difference. Back to Rain-X for me.

RainX is horrible. I have had nothing but bad experiences with it clouding up the windshield. I use only Aquapel which is more expensive but it bonds with the glass.

I've been using RainX for a few years now and it is very effective. I reapply monthly. The wipers clean the glass much better with RainX applied. I've tried AIO and can confirm streaking after a couple weeks. I believe the AIO coating is scratched by the wiper blade and road grime leaving streaks. This can make driving in the rain at night a hazard. I've not had this problem with RainX.

I applied Aquapel to my windshield about a month ago and have to say that it works well, no blade chatter and at highway speeds that rain drops just seem to blow off.

Yeah, if you think Rainx is good, give Aquapel a try. It's way beyond "good". ;)

The only problem with Aquapel is that you can't apply it in the winter unless you have a heated garage.

Do not apply to glass surfaces that are damp, colder than 50° F, or hotter than 120° F

I've never tried applying Aquapel in the winter but would think that turning the windshield heat on high would warm up the glass enought to apply it. Maybe-?

I just heat it with a hair dryer before going after it :xyxthumbs
