I have an idea... Need opinions

First off let me tell you a little bit about myself and detailing life. I'm 16 and I go to high school and will probly not have next summer off because I will most likely have a job. I only deal with 5 cars maybe 6 soon. The cars are a dark red 1996 Chevy Malibu, a red 1998 Dodge Intrepid, a beige 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a slver 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, and a silver 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. The Malibu is my dads car and is a daily driver. The Intrepid is my brothers and is the most "beaten up" car out of all of them. He goes to ISU which is 2 and a half hours away and doesent take care of it while he is down there. The Jeep is my moms but will be mine once I start driving more often and is also a daily driver. My sister has the Monte Carlo and she is always driving back and forth from here (St. Charles) to Springfield to visit her friends. She is also a teacher and parks under a tree at he school she works a every time she is there.

The Trans Am is a total garage queen and that isn't too much of my worries since it looks the best and always will. This beauty will become my brothers after he graduates college. Since I'm a new driver now and will be taking over the Jeep my mom needs a new car and they are sort of lookin right now. With 5 cars to take care of all the time now I feel kind of pressed because I love clean cars and it's hard to have time for all of them. Since I'm only 16 and have no job I can't be like most of you tons of stuff.

So to the point... How much stuff do I need. My idea was simple. One brand of car care products. Then it hit me... Poorboys is great. They have the SSR line and they have sealants and waxes that are great and non abrasive polishes and QD's and S&W and a wheel sealant and tire dressing. Well you get the point. I would stick with Klasse and maybe try Zaino sometime for the winter. I would probly use some OCP with a rotary too in case I needed to remove swirls or scratches. Since 3 oout of 5 of the cars are light colors I will definitley try Metallic Polish, Glanz Wax, and UPP. One of my other questions is how much MF do I need and what do you think? Sorry to make you read a novel. Thanks in advacne for your opinions.

Basically, you could go with whatever brand products you think you like best. I personally use Meguiar's professional polishes and waxes. For your situation, it may be a good idea to consider going with a few basic products, such as a Cleaner Wax and a Polymer Wax that can be used on a few of the vehicles that you intend to detail. That's probably a cost effective way for you to look at things at this point in time.

I would personally choose Meguiar's as well. You can buy a package deal either through Meguiar's or go to Auto Detailing Solutions. They have some good packages there with good discounts.

Do you plan on only detailing your family's cars? If so, I would say 10-15 high-quality microfibers would be a good estimate. I would also suggest some wash mitts, a nice drying towel such as The Water Magnet Drying Towel, and a good amount of lower quality microfibers if you plan on doing the interiors as well. I buy some microfibers from a BJ's near me 25 for $12 or so. Also get a few foam applicators and possibly some microfiber applicators.

As for products, start small and buy as needed. Get a car wash, some clay, a paint cleaner or a cleaner/polish, a pure polish, a polymer sealant and a carnauba wax. Then get things such as a glass cleaner, tire dressing, trim dressing, wheel cleaner, plastic treatment, and an all metal polish.

Not quite sure if this is what you are looking for, but I hope it helps.

The only thing that is stopping me from trying Meguiars is that I have tried DACP and that is not so easy to use as some people claim SSR 2.5 has just as much cut and is easier to use. Keep in mind though that I'am not just looking to remove scratches and swirls but looking for a dealer that sells it all.

I would look into the the SFX polishes from Autopia car care, Klasse AIO and SG, Autopia has my favorite MF for removing polishes, and nothing beats the concourse MF for removing sealants.

A bottle of SG will last you a long time. Trade 4 oz of it for another sealant, like UPP or EX...just to have another LSP to try.

You can pick up alot of good products at Pep Boys now a days too.
