Which of course is what I have on my car. I just gave the car a full wash, tires dressed and gave it a coat of UQW. BUT ... I can see on the trunk, the tops of the right side mirror and half a dozen other spots where the paint is fading.

The car could have used a good going over with a mild polish or AIO, and trust me it would have made a visual difference. But with the wife being on the rampage about how I spend my free time, all I did was the UQW after the wash (although it was a full, detailed wash ... jambs and all).

It looks great in spite of the faded spots, the UQW does a fantastic job of doing what it's intended to do, slickness, depth of color and shine. But it's ALSO IRRITATING knowing that despite all of my efforts, the paint is going to fade out on me. I JUST did a full buffing three months ago, got all the oxidation out and brought it up to an awesome gloss and here it comes again ...

I just had to vent ...

Don M -
Sorry this is happening to your baby... :(

Yeah, they all do go that way eventually...

Nothing prettier than that color all cleaned up and polished...

Good luck with this -

Don, Im right there with you on the rampaging wife deal. Mine comes outside after an hour (barely time to get a proper wash done) to "ask" me if I about how long its been. Then every 30 minutes after that she finds an excuse to go into the garage and glare at me in passing lol.

They just dont get it!

When was the last time you treated the paint with Megs #7? Maybe it needs more frequent oil rejuvenation.

Oh, to be single again, or have an understanding wife ... I DO have a nearly full bottle of #7, it's just getting HER to go on a vacation so I can relax and do some "therapy" with my car.

I just did a 83 Porches 911...Red single stage paint.
.did a 2 day detail paint correction and coating.

I used Menz FG400 and PO85rd ...28 hours on this beauty...I guess I'll do a write up and post
...

X2 on the Meguiar's #7. Rub it into the paint with some "passion" using a soft piece of terrycloth and let it soak in overnight.
Your shoulders will hate you, but your red will love it. This one was turning a dull pink until I learned the secret of #7 from Mike P. at AutoGeek.

When I get the chance, I'll probably use my PC to apply the #7 (so my shoulders don't hate me). That plus one of my shoulders was dislocated when I was younger and it's coming back to haunt me and the other has something similar to a bone spur.

Depending on how much longer the weather cooperates, will decide if I can do it this fall or if I'll have to wait until spring when I do a major overhaul-detail on the car.

BTW, your El Camino is a glowing testament to the power of #7.
