I had the most crappiest experience with M21 last night

Ordered M21 to give it a whirl.



Washed my car, polished with M205 then applied the M21 with the Meguiars yellow pad. Let it sit for 15 mins and wiped off - I could not get it to not streak and left circular patterns everywhere. (Off the bat this product was not as easy to apply as they say it was IMO) I went over it again with m21 on a red pad with the flex to hopefully get more even distrubtion but that failed too.



I understand that I may not have left it to cure long enough (bottle says 10-15) but why can't Meguiars design a product that doesn't have a flaw such as this?



Luckily my go to sealant is Blackfire Wet Diamond and it doesn't do this and is 10x easier to apply and remove. I've tried alot of products and none of them left me as moody as this product did.



Just glad I tried it on my car and not a clients, as I sprayed my entire car in Invisible glass to remove the streaks lol.
 
Frankly dude, you claim to do clients cars so you should not be too inexperienced and yet you apply a sealant and try to use it like a wowo? You really should have known better.



You diss a product that you admittedly decided not to follow the application instructions and then blame the product for the problem? Duh!



Streaking occurs with many sealants and carnaubas if you try to use them as a wowo. Worse yet is that failure to let it setup will yield diminished protection and gloss. Most detailers would apply the product and perhaps do some interior work to let the product cure. Learn out about the "swipe test".



#21 2.0 will streak if you don't lit it setup. It will also occasionally streak if it is very humid or you apply too heavy a coat. This streaking could have been easily eliminated with a little QD.
 
I have an early sample bottle of M21 that I got from ADS. Shook it up, squirted it out (of the ketchup bottle) and it was lumpy and watery...and it was terrible, no slickness, etc. Put it back on the shelf for a couple years, shook it up, and only water came out. So I unscrewed the top and stirred it up, then gave it a good shake...and it was like a different product, and worked very nicely. I don't know if that was just a problem with the early runs, etc., and that of course was version 1.

You probably got a bad bottle... I've been using the old one and new one with great results..



OP, you really are dissing a product for no reason... you seem to have tried polishing in the sealant, which isn't recommended for LSPs, especially sealants... apply it by hand, let it sit for 20-30 mins, then wipe off

I followed the instructions on a simple product. 10-15 mins set up time. I did the swipe test, I'm not stupid. It also says DA/Rotary/by hand on the bottle so I figured the inconsistency of by hand was the cuplrate so I tried it by machine. Same issue. Where did I say I didn't follow instructions? I stated that I did.



It wasn't humid nor did I try to over apply it. I even stated that I found the product hard to distribute evenly even when using little.



I guess my experience with other better products made this one into a negative experience.
 
I honestly think it is a production problem, maybe a small batch, but i and a handful of other people have complained about this issue...mine was just blotchy everywhere, streaky, hazy...i followed the directions exactly as well...did the swipe test...



One thing that i was told is that it is for fresh paint, meaning prep needs to be spot on. You polished, i dont see where you messed up at all..did you do an IPA wipedown? Maybe reacting with polish?

Applying a sealant by PC is not WOWO, he said he let it dry for 15 minutes so how is that WOWO?

I DO see where you are coming from. I have NOT used M21, but I *personally* think it is ridiculous for everyone to get upset over you simply expressing your frustration. Who cares if it is a GREAT product for 99% of people - if it doesn't work for you then it doesn't work for you and you don't have to like it. I don't see how that is a reflection on your level of experience or professionalism as a detailer, though others have implied that it is. There are so many factors that come in to play with every product on different paints and in different environments and it sounds like you did follow the directions well enough. There should be SOME room for error.



All that being said. I believe someone mentioned (maybe Todd Helme) that he had this issue (and if ANYONE is a qualified detailer it is him), and I believe what helped was putting ice water in a spray bottle and using that to help remove the wax. Mist on, wipe off. Maybe try that.

I think you are suppose to let it cure longer. That's why I use the NXT Tech Wax instead. Much easier. And yet, a sealant also. :)
 
Also, it might not be the M21. Maybe you didn't worked in the polish long enough? Or the pad is incorrect or bad is no good condition?
