I guess I don't understand this one (bird bomb problem)

Ok, I'm lost on why this problem recurs.



2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Patriot blue clearcoat metallic.



Left a bird bomb on for a bit too long, removed it, saw a pretty healthy 'ghost' image of the bomb area. Took some 83 and a polishing pad removed it until the image was gone. Clean and smooth.



Wiped it down with some QD. Noticed today that the same image is back and it definitely feels different; my fingertip sort of 'dragged' across it.



Took some scratchX and a MF and went at it, removed it till there was nothing left of the image and all was slick and glossy.



What happened? Why did it reappear and how?

If it is reappearing I would say that it etched the clear. The polishes you are using might be sligtly filling it, then the polish dissapates and the etchining reappears.

Etching and possibly the acid from the crap is still in the paint.
