I didn't know Endurance Tire Gel had so many uses!

I did a complete exterior detail on my car today. Dawn, GC wash, Mother's Clay, FI-II with PC, #9 2.0 with PC, and Gold Class wax. I was a little dissapointed with the FI-II. It didn't seem to do very much for me, but it did a little. My black '92 BMW was not as black and dark as I had hoped. It looked very nice after I buffed out the #9. I was pleasantly surprised with the Gold Class wax, which I used for the first time. Don't worry; I'll conform to the Autopian ways soon and use either Zaino or Klasse. I found that the Gold Class wax made the car quite reflective, but not very deep in color. I will add some #26 tomorrow to see what that does.

I detailed my car with a couple buds of mine. They did their cars and we all helped out with eachother. However, their one step cleaner waxes are definitily NOT up to Autopian standards!!!! They were bamboozled at my engine degreasing, Dawn wash AND GC wash, clay, and multi-step polish with a machine! I let them try out the PC (I made them buy some cheap NicSand pads from Pep Boys... hehe-- no way they're using my CMA pads with their cleaner waxes!), and they were amazed out how well it worked. Even with their Zymol/Turtle Wax Cleaner Wax from the blue bottle, their Eagle One cleaner wax, and the plethora of other cleaner waxes they used on the same foam pad, their cars turned out nicely.

My friends also loved the Meguiar's Endurance Hi-Gloss Tire Gel, which reeks of artificial grape scent. They loved it so much, in fact, that they not only used it for their tires and all "out-terior" (as they called it) plastic trim, but they found that it also worked well on chrome, liscense plates, dashboards, interior vinyl, and (I'm not kidding) carpet mats!!! As I said, they're not Autopian level detailers. Needless to say, my car looked the best despite being the oldest, though their cars did not look bad (except for the smears on the chrome from the Endurance Tire Gel!).

So now, I have a shiny car, and my friends have shiny dashboards and sticky grape smelling carpet mats.

dashboards? isn't it really shiny/greasy and attract dust? I used it on my exterior black trim only to get browning after a week or two. I believe on the back of the bottle it says specifically not to use it on vinyl trim. (I might be confusing it with turtle wax tire stuff) Very interesting though, report to us how it does in the long run.

Man, that's like putting grape jelly mixed with vasoline and a bit of oil on you interior vinyl, carpet mats, etc. How could you let them do it:eek:

I know, I know, I shouldn't have let them do that. But it was so funny to me! And their cars will smell like grape candy for weeks!

That has got to be one huge mess.....

I thought I was bad.. when I was a kid we were going cruising and the car was "a work in progress" and was primered in black. Not wanting to show up on cruise night with a flat black car we took action! I worked at Mobil so we grabbed a few rags and a couple of cans of motor oil and wiped the whole exterior of the car with oil... super shiny indeed.... what a disaster the next day :D

Ah youth....

As I read the subject title, I thought to myself, " What did this crazy guy use Endurance on?" Hehe! I can't believe these other guys applied it on mats. That is not the finish that you want at all. Laters

Actually, today one of them asked me if "that all purpose grape stuff" works well on glass. I wanted to say, "Why don't you try it and tell me!", but I decided to be the good Autopian and told him that there are better glass cleaners out there.

Oh yeah, and he "loves the smell" in his car!

In my younger (and dumber) days ....

We ran in an event called "Carolina Meteor Express" kind of a quasi cannonball. My twin-cam Hemi toyota was painted catch-me corvette yellow. So the nite before the event we sprayed the car with WD-40 and drove up and down clay roads raising all sorts of hell in order to camaflauge the car!!!:bounce

My friends DID use it on their tires. They just got gel-happy and used it on everything else, as well.

Any other good "stupid youth" stories out there? I'm lovin' these!!

A few years ago some friends of mine went on a camping holiday and one of the campsites they stopped at was right next to a small river. One afternoon one of the other campers decided to wash his car, the only water there on tap was clearly marked “Drinking water only so being a decent sort he decided to use the river water to rinse the mud off. Armed with his bucket and length of rope, the bank was several feet above the level of the water, he trotted off to the river several times to refill his bucket. I suppose he must of got p****d off going back and forth so he had a bright idea, why bring the water to the car when you can take the car to the water?

So congratulating himself on this masterpiece of logic he got into his car and drove it around the tents until he could park parallel to the river a couple of feet from the edge. Ensuring that his handbrake was firmly engaged he got out of the car and got on with the task at hand. I’m sure that most of you already know that British summers aren’t known for glorious sunshine and low rainfall, that summer was no exception. Recent rainfall a dozen buckets of water and the weight of a family car all conspired against this unfortunate soul and after about fifteen minutes the inevitable happened and the bank collapsed. There was a yell then a series of expletives and a sound not unlike a dumper truck delivering gravel and my friends got there just in time to see this guy, still holding his bucket, staring at his freshly washed Mazda settling on it’s side in about three feet of muddy river water.

But every cloud has a silver lining and, as one of the other campers pointed out to him, at least he’d now be able wash all of those “difficult to get at places underneath the car. I understand that they had to level the bank and tow it out with a tractor in the end. I wonder how he managed to explain it away to the insurance company, flood damage?

LOL! Awesome story, Simon! Suddendly tire gel on carpet mats doesn't seem so bad (and at least my friends like having tire gloss on carpet!)

That story is almost as bad as the guy who tried to haul 2500 pounds of wood and concrete on his little 4 cylinder car.
