Hyundai paint depth ~

The Driver

Detailers Workshop
I've had very little experience with hyndai, I know the paint is medium to soft but I'm getting rads of 105 on the hood an other tops panels. Doors are hovering around 70-80 is this normal? I thought the Audi was thin at 89 average. Are hyndai's normally this low?

2013 Sonata, I clocked the jambs at high 40's.

Wouldn't be surprised. Car manufacturers set up the equipment to paint the vehicle with as little product as possible to do the job. its all about money. Less paint means less expense.

I found my wife's Hyundai to be on the low side ( paint depth ) and easy to correct. As always be careful on any paint when doing correction.

My pro-detailer friend (does it for a living so I call him a pro) went trough the clear paint on an almost new Hyundai Veloster with his Rupes 21. He warned me to stay way from these without a PTG...

Needless to say be careful.

Yup, I'm keeping to a limit of 3 - 4 microns as far as shaving. It should be sufficient enough to get most defects including the holograms and type II water marks out.

You are measuring in - Mils or Microns ?

1 Mil = 25.4 Microns
